WRC 2001 vs CMR3
Which of the new rally games will come out on top? Personally at the moment I think it will be WRC 2001 due to it's realism and superb graphics.

Erm how can you compare them, one is out now whilst the other is over half a year away.

I seem to be the only person not enamoured with WRC 2001. Personally I think the graphics leave a lot to be desired and given the CMR team's pedigree in this genre I reckon WRC will easily be beaten...

I agree WRC looks very disapointing to me, as you say MF the graphics are a little iffy, particularly when compared to the now 4 month old GT3. I have a demo of it and the handling with the control pad is awful. I'll be waiting for CMR3

hmm... having just got my PS2 I was looking forward to trying demo of WRC 2001. Now I know I will definetly not be buying it. The graphics look quite nice but not very varied within the stages and the cars aren't great looking. Worst of all is the handling, argh, what did they base the steering connection on? jelly? There is too much of a delay and then it comes in too strong. It just feels awful and te car hardly feels like it is in contact with the ground. I hope Codemasters manage to beat this, it ain't gunna be a big challenge.

Hey you've finally joinde us, what games did you get Herminator, I absolutely recommend Half Life (if you haven't done the PC version that is) and Pro Evolution Soccer, both mighty fine games.

So far I've got GTA3 and GT3, I have HL on the PC, but I hope to get Pro evolution Soccer, Devil May Cry and when it comes out MGS2. Just trying to find the cheapest places to get games at the mo coz I don't wanna pay £40-45 for a game.

Having either owned or played nearly all of the Rally games out thier for the stations, I can say that WRC2001 just don't make the grade. Shure the graffs are pretty good and the sceneary quite nice, but the overall gameplay is naff and handling, what handling?
No contest I would say CM3 will be top dog. Although, CM did make a balls up with TOCA3 after the most excellent TOCA2 which is still kained today. |

I've tried CMR 1 & 2 and frankly i was alittle unimpressed. The realism just isn't there. The handling didn't seem right and there seemed to be something that kept the car more or less on the road at all times. It was also impossible to destroy the car or make any sort of damage that affected the performance in a siugnificant and realistic manner. If you drove a real rally car the way you drive in these games, you wouldn't last a mile let alone a stage.
Sadly, it seems that the only realistic games available are for F1. |
