V8 supercars greatest hits.
well i lashed out and bought my first ever DVD today and it is the V8 supercar greatest hits volume one.
its kinds like the old havoc series of video's but really wasnt that impressed with it. its hosted by Greg Rust and features action from tha last for or five years of V8's. its not too bad with some stuff I havent seen (allthough not much) or maybe Ive just forgotten them..im not sure..but the biggest dissapointment is the replays...they have way too many of them. but boy it brought back some memories of the late 90's that I had completely forgotten. all in all I would rate it about a 6.5 out of 10 which is reasonable because im a fussy bugger to entertain but worth a look at least. anybody else have it ? |

So the video only covers '97-2001, that's a shame. I'm getting the 'Classic Bathurst Crashes' for christmas, amongst other videos, hopefully this one is good.

I reckon the Greatest V8 Supercar hit that has yet to happen is when some one finally tires of Cochrane talking **** and Belts him. Actually I would pay to see that.

I've seen about 15 mins of it...and really....uhh... zzzzzzz
Saying that, I have finally found a DVD worth buying- all 2 editions of the Best Bits of the Late Show plus extras... mainly because my Bargearse is nearly worn out... |

I got this video, and it is a little disappointing, but still entertaining.
But they only show crashes from '97 cause there is some involvment by Channel 10, who didn't host the V8's before then, and wont pay Channel 7 for the footage. Also, what videos does everyone have about V8s (ATCC) which they feel are the best, seeing as Christmas is just around the corner. BJ |

I gues there is the the Great Race "The V8 Years" 93-96. Thats pretty alright, good racing those years. Regarding video's about the ATCC in general, an all time favourite of mine is the 1990 video. Jimmy taking victory and the introduction of the great GTR. Lots of spills and thrills and it has what could be the greatest closing songs for a racing video. "Bound For Glory" by Rose Tattoo.

The best tape ever was the 1976-85... I know I harp on about it, but blimey (I'd hate to get back on the subject) I know every word from that one as well as I know the words from Bargearse...

The Late Show DVD was great! Highly recommended. Where can you get all the ATCC videos from?

I have watched that 75-85 video so many times it's not funny, it's just a pity the video only goes for 90 minutes, two or three hours of those years would be wonderful. Group C was fantastic
ATCC Videos are available from Chevron, but only 90,93,94,96 & all the way to 2001. 91 & 92 videos i think may have come out at the time, but i never see them advertised anymore In some of my old mags i have seen ATCC reviews from 86 & 87 made by Atlab, who also made the early bathurst reviews like 67-74 and 75-85. I haven't seen any of the 86 or 87 reviews, if anyone has seen them, what are they like. For a video not to worry about, 21 years of Commodore at Bathurst. Lucky i got it for free for winning the AA letter prize, but it is jus edited versions of the Bathurst review videos, with some extra footage from Bathurst 1980, like Brock hitting the Gemini and his disastrous pitstop and so on. I don't know what footage that was though, had some guy talking, then it cuts back to channel 7 from then on. Plus the interviews are cut off and so on. |

I've seen the 86 one a few times- the old video store down the road used to have it, and I have a 1 hour long 87 tape, which came as a freeby with another Bathurst video in the mid-90s.
A bit of a heads up- I was down at Tar-get today, and they had the 1999 Bathurst and SCS tapes on sail for $12 a pop...pretty good value. |

Speaking of good videos, yesterday I once again dragged out the 1981 James Hardie 1000 that I have on tape (up to about lap 80). I nearly juice myself everytime I watch that one.
It also has the wet Hardie's Heroes where KB shattered everyone in the 9 Camaro. And where good ol' Garth Wigston spun the Roadways Commodore at Murrays on both his HH laps. The racing in the early laps of that race is some of the best I've seen. DJ in the Tru-Blu XD, KB and Brock going hammer and tongs until the 05 broke an axle. From memory '81 was the last year you could run without mufflers so the cars sounded mega tough too. Sigh, yep the good old days......... |

Does anyone own the 6 dvd pack of all the bathurst races? If so how long does each DVD go for and how much do they show of each race?

i would do anything to see the early 80s Hardies Heroes and Bathurst races, the 75-85 video just leaves me wanting more than 5-10 minutes of each race

I myself am getting this box set for Xmas. Just trying to work out when I'm going to watch all 8 Hours of the pure history contained within.
Was actually at Mt Panorama yesterday and called into the Motorsport Museum and of course went for a few laps. You cannot truly appreciate that track until you drive on it. It really makes you think how the hell they do it when you actually see how steep the descent is. |

"the 1999 Bathurst and SCS tapes on sail for $12 a pop.."
-Hrmmm.... I think what was wrong with your tape is that it was floating around in water with a sail attached....crickey, I'm a shocking typer most of the time... |

I actually got the V8 Supercars Greatest Hits DVD the day it came out. I also was a little disappointed that it didn't really go to far back.
Also, the sound quality varies from scene to scene as well which can be a little distracting. If you want to see an amazing motorsport DVD get the Formula 1 2000 Season DVD - incredible footage, awesome sound, multiple camera angles, heaps of in car stuff - but crystal clear picture. Well worth looking at. |

I don't have DVD, I'm still living ion the '70s. I do however have the best bits of the late show 1 & 2 on VHS. I also have the Bathurst highlight videos from 1967-1996. Excellent stuff. I watch them over and over again.
