Aston Hopes boosted

The chances of the aston Martin project getting underway have been boosted by the arrival of " Jeremy Main" as chief director of the Aston martin programme. expect the British cars to be available for the 2003 season, however, Main is said to prefer an LMP 900 car, over the GTS contender, which was put forwards by Les edger, a wealthy aston Martin collector.

Ford is bleeding money at the moment and I don't think that Mr. Ford has any interest in underwriting yet another one of their European automakers in a heavily financed racing program after the whole Jaguar thing.

Then again, it would be great for Sportscar Racing to have another manufactuer that isn't an Audi (ie Bentley/Audi).

It would be nice to Aston Martin back at Le Mans.

As an american, i would prefer Ford goes back to LeMans under their own name. Aston is just fine, but Americans would like onother run like the one our company had fro 66-69. As the would's largest producer of automobiles, it just doesn/t see right that we aren't competitive in top-class motorsports on a world-wide basis.

But if Aston comes back and wins, that might just be an even bigger story that will vault the sport into the limelight.

Another reason why I really think the Aston will never see the light of day is that the rumors of the brand returning were always when Jacques Nassar ran the company. He was seemingly obessed with placing low production and/or low profit brands in high spotlights.

Personally, I think Bill Ford could have two cents about Aston at Le Mans or Jaguar in F1.

Chrysler pulled the LMP900 program in the middle of a year year contract. The cars really showed potenial at Le Mans this year, but the fact that the cars never turned a wheel apart from Le Mans & Donnington despite the fact that Chrysler claimed to have "long term commitment" showed something.

Next year, the cars will be back racing with a Judd V10 engine. The cars will still be Dallaras and Playstation will still be the sponsor.

I think they will see more performance from Judd versus the Mopar, but I doubt that the cars will finish. Judds just have a nasty habbit of expiring.
