We're going to have a rally in Canada before they get one in the States. People up here WILL watch Rally, they are already watching it in Quebec and Ontario! I saw something about it at the Car Show and personally I can't wait.

I don't know how it would go over in the NASCAR parts of the USA, but I'm sure in Minnesota and other northern areas it will be very popular, especially now that Rally is on Speed Channel on a regular basis.

Its meant to be a WOLRD rally championship and one of the biggest countries in the world doesn't have a rally. Now thats stupid!

Well, I wouldn't mind going up to Ontario to see a rally. There, though, you'd likely have a forest rally on mud and gravel. I personally think they're more interesting in the mountains, and in Colorado, it could even run on dirt, gravel _and_ tarmac. Admit it, it'd be pretty cool to see them try and tackle more than one surface on a single stage! Would certainly call for some creative tire choices.

Definitely good; and of course the advantage of the States is that you could have whatever rally you choose depending on location and timing (the terrain is varied enough)

Canada would be good too; somewhere picturesque around Banff area etc.

I'm a volunteer for the Canadian Rocky Mountain Rally in May . I would love to see a WRC rally here !!

Banff is just down the road from where I live (okay, an hour away ) and the logging roads would make for some interesting driving...

Two words. Olympus Rally. Anyone remember that? I didn't think so. US motorsport fans are some of the most enthusiastic in the world but they don't like getting away from the hotdog stands and beer vendors.

Only a small handful of fanatics in the states had even heard of rallying at that time.

WRC's popularity in the last few years has grown exponentially: overwhelming demand for the Subaru WRX at US dealers is evidence of this. Hopping up subcompacts in emulation of rally and touring cars has replaced old-fashioned drag-based hot rodding among young gearheads. Now, with the excellent TV package WRC has with FOX's Speed Channel, an American event could be a huge success.

Proabably for the reasons Lee has already said; increased interest fuelled by decent TV coverage.

I see Ford & the Far Eastern manufacturers being up for it; not sure how many motors Peugeot and Citroen sell in North America though

i am interested in what Lee has said. I am going over to Houston sometime this year and i should meet up with some friends in the SCCA. 3 years ago they had heard of WRC but didn't know much about it. Do you think it will be different now?

What about a Rally in Northern Michigan in which it is an icy, gravel road eventin the forest that the SCCA Pro Rally guys did in the first race of the season. It would be suit for the WRC guys.
