Lexus and Alfa Romeo
Where have the Lexus and Alfa Romeo cars gone?
Both were there or there-abouts in 2001 and were not on the grid in Brands Hatch. Will they be around anytime this year? If they are not, its a shame. Last edited by Speedworx; 6 Apr 2002 at 14:37. |

The Alfa are now in the posession of GR Motorsport who plan to join the series with a single car for Gordon Sheddon from Thruxton onwards... and in Alfa red too I'm told...
At least one TMSR Lexus went to VLR during the close season but it is now back with it's original owners I believe. They submitted a two car entry but this was supposedly refused by TOCA due to a lack of funds within the team. They are still hopeful that they can rejoin the series mid way through the year. |

Obviously you've missed a lot of the post season developments.
JSM, who ran the Alfas last year, have gone bankrupt (repeatedly replacing blown engines isn't cheap). GR Motorsport (who ran Gareth Howell in Production last year) now own the cars and hope to return to the track by Round 3 (maybe 2) with one car driven by Gordon Sheddon. Tom Ferrier and Simon Graves have been linked ot the second car when its ready. As for Lexus, who knows. They did announce a 2-car package for 2002, running GT Ace Richard Dean and Steve Sutcliffe, but no sponsorship has been found yet. They have spoken in terms of appearing soon, but nothig is certain. Tommy Erdos is doing British GTs though. |

Ok. Lets hope they do join as it would be great to add to the already good cars on the grid.

It is expected that up to 6 Lexi(??) may race...unfortunately, it is the in North American Speed World Challenge series! Supposedly, TRD has provided the engine and will assist in the development of it. Ditto for Mazda.
It seems these two automakers have taken to providing largely engine development/support and leaving it up the teams to do everything else on their own. |

LOL, myself and Craig were writing almost the exact same things at the same time. Great minds and all that.
