Sauber appreciation thread
This is just a thread to celebrate a marvellous fourth for Nick Heidfeld and fifth for Felipe Massa for Credit Suisse Sauber-Petronas at the 2002 Spanish Grand Prix at Catalunya.
Nick - you were absolutely marvellous! I can already hear McLaren knocking at your door though with this Sauber team, why would you want to leave? Felipe - held off HHF well there at the end and another two points in the kitty. |

This is where the real racing is going on, this great McLaren-Renault-Sauber battle. THIS is the only reason I watch anymore!

Good to see the guys from Uzwil doing so well. Their budget is much lesser than many of you imagine. And so many pundits forecasted that they would be pedalling this season, after they lost Sergio Rinland.
And Peter Sauber is a very nice gentlemen indeed. Gruezi, Muzza |

Felipe is such a great driver to watch . Nick is driving really well , and showing people that just because Kimi got the Mclaren drive , NICK HIEDFELD he is just as fast !
And Sauber have produced and developed a very tidy , fast chassis for the 2nd year on the trot . well done . |

It was a welcome return to form after the first few races. I have to admit the Massa has far out performed my expectations. Nick remains Nick-and is in danger of replicating Fisichella's career A talent far surpassing the equipment available to him.

No EERO, don't say that. NOOOOO!!!!
I'll be ringing up RD later at McLaren (or I might even have to put a call through to JT) and make sure they will be offering Nick a contract next year |

Wow, I have never really seen Massa on screen before - he has such a distinctice style, top stuff. But overall, how good was that??? Being a Heidfeld fan, it was GREAT to see him in the points, well done to Felipe too - and the team in general, good they've lost none of the sparkle that gave them fourth place overall last year.
Now we just need a race win |

The race win will come this year. They will need some luck of course, but it will come.

Actually you are all wrong. The reason is different:
Michael Schumacher Yes, Ross came on the radio to tell me that it was better to stay away. But I didn't really plan to go by because I thought it was interesting to watch that - and there was no need to disturb them fighting for sixth position Last edited by Red; 29 Apr 2002 at 09:44. |

Well done Sauber - just goes to show what a 'tidy' car with two quick drivers can achieve. Also well done to Ferrari for supplying them with a 2001 rear end, engine and gearbox - which contribute's in no small part....
Show's how good those 2001 bits are. Outside bet for 3rd in the constructors? |

Well done to Sauber - funny how a few years back everyone was high on Jordan claiming they were the last team in F1 to make it good. Well seems like Sauber have the upper hand now, both in term of preformance and sponsorship. Great to see a team that quietly goes about it's business come good.
