Where would you like to see a GP?

OK Folks,

Where do you think there should be a Grand Prix? Myself, I think either London, Scotland or maybe even San Fransisco! Some more street races would be great. Also bring back Kylami because it was a great course and maybe even Zandvoort!

London ? Where the hell is that gonna happen then ? The Wimbledon banger track ?! How about being a little more sensible and saying Donington ? (hopefully this /will/ happen when Brands get their planning application turned down!)

And, PLEASE, no street circuits! (they'd never happen anyway, due to the high minimum requiremnts of 'the circus' nowadays... thank god!)

on the moon, so aero-dyn effect will be less (if any) and they will all suffer to get decent g-force, and therefore lots of overtaking and crashes!!!

FatBloke: Last week's AutoSport carried a four-page article on a street circuit round central London, through Hyde Park, round the Marble Arch hairpin, down to St Paul's Cathedral, along past Downing Street, past Buck Palace, and complete the lap. Great idea, but never going to happen.

I certainly second the vote for a GP at Donnington. Watkins Glen would be OK, or Laguna Seca.
I also think it would be extremely interesting to see how modern cars would run round the old Nurburg ring.

Ah, I've just had my annual good idea. Bathurst!!!

In North America I'd like to see Road America (Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin). Long track (over 4 miles), 3 long straights, excellent spectator accomodations and viewing, and close enough to Canada to draw some of our neighbors to the north.

Or back to Mosport Park or Watkins Glen.

Seriously, the Autosport thing was a spoof (apparently picked up by one of the tabloids and reproduced as fact!) which would never work in this far too conservative country

There are lots of places I'd like to see a Grand Prix.

Monza - without those dratted chicanes.

Hockenheim - without those dratted chicanes.

Zandvoort - in its entirety.

Spa-Francorchamps - the whole 8.6 miles.

Nurburgring - the whole 14 miles.

Brands Hatch - the way it is, un-Bernie'd.

Clermont Ferrand - remember that?

Solitude - there would be a challenge.

Osterreichring - the proper one, not the A1 emasculation.

Kyalami - including the whole Crowthorne straight. Lovely.

Basically, all of these circuits were fine and dandy once upon a time, before Grands Prix were shortened and emasculated, and called GPs.

Oh, and once we've removed the tyre grooves and the wings and the beaky noses, how about some three-hour races, like the old days. With all the slipstreaming going on, now that the aerodynamics have been roped in, it's not going to be boring anymore.

Monza 1971 anyone?

I would like to see 22 F1's outbreaking each other in the Tarzan-corner.

The last corner, Bosuit, would be taken full throttle as showed by Verstappen last weekend.

Brands Hatch is the best circuit in the world!

I think the moon idea might have a bit of credit to it..

1. No ban on smokes advertising
2. Solid, and endless carparks
3. Made for TV event
4. No problems with sound
5. Bernie could do it

However..

1. The track would be bumpy
2. The track would be classified as slow
3. There would have to be substantial upgrades to spectator facilities...

Honestly, although I don't love street circuits, i thought Chris Pook's idea for the USGP in the Presidio in San Francisco was inspired-its a huge shame that Tony George caught the Bern's ear.

Add Laguna Seca and Road America to the list.

Ever since the military abandoned the Presidio, I have thought it would make a dandy F1 track - and it's close enough to a major city that IS a city in the European sense of the word, so that it would draw a good crowd on a consistent basis.

Mosport would be a great race but there is nowhere for people to stay. Not until I build my hotel anyway!

And it's hard enough for us Lower Orders to get there on race weekends through the traffic, and find places to park - how real live spectators would do it is beyond me.

So what about Lydden???? Nice and close to the continent!!

I would have loved to see the F3 cars round Cadwell, must have been scary stuff - apparently Mr Senna had a rather large accident when his car got airborne over the Mountain...

Please let any future racing in the UK happen at Donnington - and save Brands Hatch!!!
