Toyota's Gone

http://sports.yahoo.com/rac/cart/new...nginedeal.html

CART is working on a deal that would retain its current turbocharged engine rules with a single supplier for the whole Champ car series. Under the proposed agreement, CART reportedly would buy the engines from Cosworth and lease them at a favorable price to its teams.

In a related matter, Toyota, one of CART's current engine suppliers, said Wednesday it would not be back in 2003, no matter which engine CART chooses.

Unger said Toyota was willing to supply new 3.5 liter, non-turbocharged engines for CART - the same basic engine it will begin supplying to the rival Indy Racing League in 2003.

(Aren't these statements contradictive?)

The Champ car series was scheduled to have all new engines and chassis next season, but CART announced last month it would keep its current chassis through the 2003 season to help its teams keep costs down. Now it appears the whole package will remain the same until at least 2005.

tanalised should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Does anyone besides Pook and us want to keep CART alive?
because it doesn't seem like so...

All the Jedi Knights go to the Dark side.. (the IRL, of course)

Just wait a few years and what goes around comes around, Tony George will be in Pook's position now strugling for entries because Toyota and Honda have sent IRL budgets through the roof.

CART just has to survive the three or fours years this will take.

I believe that the "was" can be read as "had been".

The stories author should be sent to his room without dinner for creating confusion.
