Tander and Bargs swapped numbers at Winton because....?

Channel 10 (Your home of motorsport) said at the beginning of the Winton V8 telecast that Tander and Bargs had swapped numbers for this meeting because Barg's number had a better allocation of tyres than Tanders number.

Does this mean:
1) Barg's car had some decent tyres in stock from previous rounds.

or

2) They looked at the tyres randomly handed out from Dunlop and thought one set of tyres looked better than the others ?

3) Something else ?

This really confused me - does anyone know what the go was ?

Cheers, Buck.

Gievn by interview and comment on Ch 10 was supposedly because the Bargwanna car had a better ration of tyres. SOmething to do with the way tyres are allocated and carried over from meeting to meeting - done by vehicle number NOT driver.

Buck

The Melbourne Herald-Sun quoted Garry Rogers as saying the number swap was on the advice of his Chinese medicine adviser. (What's that...check the camber, caster and Feng-shui?)

Sounds reasonable to me. Maybe 35 is his rucky number.

Not really - just that he has too many spare tyres lying around - not doing enough exercising

Question- could HRT switch numbers between cars Skaife and Bright, even though Bright isn't allowed to race with number one because he isn't the champion? Or are HRT allowed to swap as they please?

Why can't Bright race with the number 1? They are running under AVESCO rules therefore, AFAIK, there is no rule contained in them to prevent this from happening.

Whether HRT would want to do it is another matter.
