Murray

I read in Motorsport News today that Murray Walker will join Darrell Eastelake in the Channel 9 studio for the coverage of the Japanese Grand Prix, as Alan Jones is racing in the Bathurst 1000 that is on at the same time.

Murray will be here in Australia at the time promotoing his book.

This is great news, pity AJ won't be there for Channel 9's last GP, he and Murray seem to get on pretty well, lets hope Darrel doesn't embarrass himself too much.

Excellent!

Shame about Alan Jones. He joined Murray on the beeb for a lot of the Australian GPs. IIRC. He was there when Murray made that wonderful noise as DC hit the pit lane wall during the last Adelaide F1 GP.

Motorsport News, is that the same one we get here, or does Australia have it's own version?

Adam, I think its a seperate mag.

Luca, I doubt it. Just because they can show it live does'nt mean they will.

Great news about Murray though.

The only race Channel 9 show live is the Australian GP! They even delay the Japanese and Malaysian races, which they COULD show live at 3pm in the afternoon, but instead DELAY it until 11pm at night!!!

Great news about Murray. Should provide us with a few more laughs.

As far as i know the Japanese GP will be live,, because if they were showing it at 11pm, AJ would be able to get back from Bathurst in time, cos they do it in Sydney, and he was able to get back from the QLD 500 last weekend in time for the Italian GP.

The Japenese Grand Prix IS live in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, but is delayed in NSW, Vic and Tas (I think) because daylight savings mean nine would have to delay the news by 5 minutes....

It depends when daylight saving kicks in though, with the Japanese GP, we got it live up till '99, but in 2000 we got it on a 6 hour delay because daylight saving came in early due to the Sydney Olympics, and as DNQ said it would have delayed the news for 5 minutes (which they gladly let happen if it is cricket or swiming), but last year we got the race live.

Be good if we do get it live, maens we will get the last two live. (even though we gotta get up at 3.45am to watch the US GP)

I don't envy you for your F1 coverage, but you're very lucky to have Murray fill in...like I needed to tell you.
