Dixon to Newman Haas??
Champweb that source of great rumour and scuttlebutt is reporting Newmann Haas "courting" Scott Dixon to replace da Matta if he goes to f1. I'd far rather see Dixon stay in CART than disapear to the IRL

Furthermore also from Champweb:
Rumor has it that Carl Haas will run Scott Dixon and Bruno Junquiera all year in CART, with a Indy one-off paid by Toyota using Toyota's engines. This is what Haas got for da Matta, plus a couple million dollars. Carl Haas does not do anything where money is not involved. We also think that Milwaukee is coming into the picture somewhere |

Like everybody else, I hope it's true. But it flies in the face of all of the rumours regarding Dixon to IRL with Ganassi.

Notice the use of 'got' in the rumour as quoted by tanalised, does this implly that Da Matta to F1 is a done deal? Every website seems to have its own confirmation of one thing or the other.
Personally I don't believe Ganassi wil abandon CART totally, despite the rumours, I think it'll be 2 in CART 2 in IRL. Dixon is a very good oval racer but would still be wasted against drivers like Boat and Lazier. But I guess Chip can be forgiven for thinking 'if we can get a guy like Jeff Ward to 5th in the series, who knows what Scott or Kenny could do' Junquiera going to Newman Haas looks very likely though, and that would be a definate championship-challenging combination with or without Cristiano |

What about this - Toyota offers Dixon test driver spot in their F1 GP Team prior to a full time drive in F1,thats where he really wants to go.

The only problem behind this rumour is Dixon's ties to Toyota as they basically own his contract. Ganassi will have no real say in the matter, but when he puts his IRL team together, Dixon will most likely stay with him in whatever capacity Toyota choose.
However, Dixon in the IRL will just be another waste of talent. So therefore I hope he stays in CART where the real talent show is. |

I think that's what mac is suggesting. That Toyota and Newman/Haas "trade" Dixon (+engines+$$$) for daMatta. At the very least it adds another log to the fire at the rumour mill!

It depends if Toyota are serious about Dixon getting to F1. If they want him there one day, this rumour makes sense, if they aren't as keen as he is for him to be in F1, he'll probably go to the IRL.
