Interesting concept
I read where in F1 they are looking at introducing a rule where cars have to start the race with the fuel they have in their tanks after qualifying.
With longer races in V8 Supercars this year it might make an interesting rule change if it was introduced. Imagine the stratagies re refueling and tyre changes. It's such a good idea i wish i had have thought of it. |

Thinking of it, they have done it and it is werd too from a safety point of view , not being allowed to work on the cars till 4 hours before morning warmup.

I like it a lot as a concept in F1, so why not for V8's - although, the fuel weight as a percent of vehicle mass is not as great so it may not be as big a factor.

Fuel still runs out. The longer races this year would mean it would come into the equation more and in longer races things like tyres and the weather come into it too so there maybe a bit of guesswork in reguards to how much fuel the should start the race with. It would add a bit of interest to the races i think.

it would spice things up a bit in the V8s but only if they allowed them to pitunder a saftey car otherwise they will all start on low tanks & come in on the 2nd lap still

It would spice it up much better if the pit stops were done away with completely.

It's been said on this forum a thousand times - let them pit only when they have to - no compulsory stops.

I'm not in favour of stops happening on lap 2 of a race. I reckon they shouldn't be able to stop until at least lap 10. That might help take the safety car out of the equation as most of the accidents happen before then.

I remember the early AUSCAR races at the Thunderdome when they used to have mandatory pitstops during a specified window, and the whole field used to rush in at the end of the second lap. I thought the idea looked silly then, and I haven't changed my mind about it.
