brightline should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Notes from St. Pete

Hello all, I just got back from the track and had a tremendous time. The crowd numbers were way beyond my expectations for a Friday, and the track is great with great fan access. I will be posting some pictures I took today with my digital camera.

Here are some of my thoughts for today:

Biggest surprises:
1. Haberfield being remarkebly fast in a reynard.
2. Sebastian Bourdais being so fast. He is the "real deal" he was on the edge every turn of every lap.
3. Oriol Servia and Mario Dominguez being at the top of the speed charts.
4. Why Mi-Jack is not on the sidepods of the Mi-jack car.
5. Still no sponsors for Vasser and Hunter-Reay.
6. Why Max Papis was in the Johannson pits with one of their lanyards holding his credntials???
7. Why Monteiro has associate sponsorship from Renault Sport Purtugal, doesn't Ford object to this?
8. Fan view of the pits...my seat is literally 30 feet from pit row with no restricted viewing suchs as walls or pop-up tents.
9. My guess is at least 15,000 maybe 20,000 for Friday practice/qualifying, good sign for the rest of the weekend.

Expect to see lots of overtaking after the long front straight into the wide turn 1, and expect lots of off near turn 10 when they put down the power. No traction control is great.

I won't have access to my computer until late Sunday night so no more updates/pictures until then.

Enjoy the race.

Lemarie still off the pace by a couple of seconds like most of the rookies, but got faster by the end of the day.

They all look good. Do you have any photos of Tiago? I know he wasn't the fastest today but considering this was the first time he was in the car, he did pretty well. Also did you get any photos of the other drivers out of their cars?

1. Chris Mower.
3. I am not surprised about Servia. But Dominguez seems to be benefitting off of Pupo.
4. Supposedly Conquest has another sponsor coming on board.
5. *cough* Nick Hunter-Reay *cough*
7. Renault Portugal is Monteiro's personal sponsor, so I don't think Ford really cares, as long as they are paying the bills.

In the second picture I think it was Gonzalez who had the fire.

Was Patrick Lew@ankerie on his skis?

http://www.motorsport.com has a few pics of Monteiro. Mostly personal sponsors.

Well, I just got back from a now wet St. Pete, got lots of pictures, however can't get them off of my digital camera until tomorrow night. I'm on a friends computer and don't have my memory card reader. Today, I got lots of interesting pics including Tracy, Tags, Pook, Pook w/Haas. Some great close ups, blah blah blah. I will be posting some very soon.

Interesting tidbits from Saturday:

1.Mad Max still roaming the pits today talking to a lot of the Rocketsports guys.
2.Al Unser Jr. hanging out at the Newman-Haas hospitality tent helping with the grill.
3.New sponsors popped up on Tagliani's car (Bonjour Quebec), Camathias (City of Lugano and Camathias Agency), and Monteiro (Laurels, looks like a one race deal on the side pod).
4.Chris Pook hunting me down on his motorscooter all day.
5.Lots of wind coming off the water with gusts as much as 30 mph.
6.Gentilozzi looks out of place on a BMX bike when his driver has a motorscooter.

enjoy.

Tag and Max both on Rocketsports? That'd be like my favorite combination of all time! (Well, unless Villeneuve came back...)

Keep 'em comming, Brightline!
