Question

The following quote from Bachelart:

Team owner Eric Bachelart was more than pleased with the weekend's results. "This is the 1st race for the team and the 1st race for the 2 drivers in a Champ Car. One finished 4th and the other 7th; so having 2 rookies finish in the top 10 was great. They both drove an excellent race. We had less than 2 months to prepare and Tiago has had less than 100 miles in the car before today's race. This was an excellent start, but now we will focus on getting more speed. Today's finish will boost the confidence of the team and the drivers. We couldn't have start in a better way."

Is Fitti/Dingman running out of Conquest's garage?

Yes they are. Fittipaldi/Dingman are running out of Eric Bachelart's Conquest's garage in Indy. They plan to fly solo next year!

Actually, the engine (and chassis, and nation's cup) only score for the best result. Of course, the engine championship is rather superfluous this year, what with spec engines... but, Ford obviously wanted mroe publicity

The standings have PT on top. Wonder why? Here's a post race quote from ChampWeb...

"It justifies all the work that the team has put in, and it justifies all the sacrifice that I've done over the winter training, riding bicycles for three hours a day. Sometimes you're out there by yourself, you're thinking, "What the Christ am I doing out here?" I call Jimmy, I call Michel, they're out partying at a night club, I'm pedaling a (effing) bicycle down the street for three hours. I'm like, "What am I doing?" It's very satisfying."

Paul Tracy... how can you help but not like the guy! A real genuine person who happens to be a good racer. Its no wonder he continues to gain admiration from many fans, including me.

Tracy is my favourite driver and I hope he wins the championship, but that's beside's the point. I have seen him in good cars and in bad ones, but he's never been able to keep kool during a full race season. I would pick B. Junqueira.....sorry PT

From Tracy's bio on CART.com:

Ranks Second Among Active Drivers in Career Wins
Ranks Second Among Active Drivers in Career Poles

Are they wrong here? Or am I daft?

CART career wins.......

CART/CCWS wins amongst active drivers (as of St.Petersburg):

20 - Paul Tracy
10 - Jimmy Vasser
7 - Adrian Fernandez
3 - Patrick Carpentier
3 - Bruno Junqueira
2 - Roberto Moreno
1 - Mario Dominguez

IMO what's happened with the Tracy bio on CART.com is that they haven't updated it since last year when PT WAS second amongst active drivers in career wins (to Michael Andretti). But of course Andretti's gone off to that other series.....

Its probably the same with regard to career poles.

I just thought it odd because they also listed him as "Most Popular Driver of 2002", so it's been updated since Michael bolted.

If PT continues to drive like that - fast, consistent but with maturity - he should be able to fight long and hard for his first, and long-awaited, CART title.

I hope he does win it.

Tracy is probably the biggest star in the field, his committment to CART over the years has been tremendous, and it would be a fantastic reward if he won the championship.

St Petes proved that although they might have the best resources, the new look series means it won't be easy for NH this year.
