What happened to Falcon Cars?

Yet another American dream turns to dust... Anyone know what happened? Did Tony George's cheque bounce? Or did it pay for a couple of new houses and a vacation in Hawaii?

Oh well, back to 2 manufacturers in the IRL...

G-Force and Dallara are known quantities. It just seems no-one was prepared to take a risk on a completely unproven car in a series which is so competitive.

Not surprised Falcon have gone belly-up.

Honda and Toyota have pushed costs up and its only a matter of time until the series is gone.

I don't follow the IRL too closely, so this could be wrong, but one of my friends seems to think that Falcon cars were given a contract to make cars expressely so Penske couldn't, back when the IRL was accepting bids for chassis manufacturers...

It was certainly a surprise when Penske's application was rejected, you could be right that Tony George felt that Penske's car would be too strong, and so set up a spoiler bid. Trouble is, won't this happen again next year if Penske apply?

George ditched 2 complete novices with no track record (Penske Cars and Lola) in favour of a seasoned, established chassis builder (Falcon).

I'm so sure there was no motive behind it at all and that the best builder and bid won the deal.

Exactly, Snout. I don't know how he will keep Penske or Lola out for too long, with this kind of stellar performance by Falcon...

Falcon should have approached a couple of teams and gave away some VERY cheap chassis in order to demo what the car can do.

Talk I heard was that George chucked Penske and Lola since they may sell chassis to Cart teams and if Cart changed their Chassis rules then they would be able to cross over for Indy. Now, I'm no lawyer but dictating to someone else's business who they can and can't sell seems a little out of line to me.
