2003 ASCAR drivers

This has probably been asked before (I'm fairly new in these part's) but does anyone know any of next year's ASCAR driver's yet? The new season's only just over a month away and I'm gittin' twitchy.

There seems to be a bit of negative reporting particularly in Autosport about ASCAR.

However with the kind of sponsors currently being unveiled, Hooters, Texaco, LEGO, etc... I am hoping Autosport are wrong.

What sort of negative stuff are they reporting ? I would have thought that with the much publicised "Million dollar purse" it would be attracting even more teams and I thought last year was pretty good.

I think the bad press has been down to the fact that they're only expecting about 18 cars again, whereas it was hoped that they'd get many more than that (30 I think they were hoping for originally).

Didn't DAMS say they wouldn't do ASCAR as they didn't think there would be a full enough grid?

Just read this on the Autosport site - Plato, 35, hopes to contest a total of eight of the 10 BTCC meetings, due to clashing commitments in the ASCAR stock car series.

Good new's!

Saw this yesterday on Autosport's Website.

"Nicolas Minassian's return to F3000 was short-lived to say the least! The French driver, after a rather lukewarm result in the San Marino event last weekend, was dropped from the team.

Who know's maybe a title defence could be on the card's, he'd have to put something together pretty quick though.

...and maybe DAMS will change their minds too about entering. From what I've heard, there are also a number of "European-based" teams and drivers seriously looking at ASCAR.

Did DAMS run last year? If so, who drove for them?

I thought Minassian was concentrating on F3000 until I read the above! Shame he's not defending his title though.

I just read about Grissom on the Rockingham WEB site, it'll be an interesting measure of the talent on this side of the pond. I'm really looking forward to it.

Moaning Minassian

minassian has had a barney with his team boss in F3000. Minassian apparently accused him of knowing f**k all about anything (a bit harsh there Nic),and has quit for the foreseeable. He has now turned his limited attention span to Le Mans where he wil pedal a Courage C60 for Team Pescarolo.

The grid is now up to a confirmed 24 starters for May 11 with Stevie Hodgson and Andrew Kirkaldy driving for Xcel Motorsport with their main sponsor being Acorn Stairlifts (no joke)

Steve never got the right breaks in Nascar. I hope he does well in the May race.

Darren Turner should be running for HTML when he's not playing with his Ferrari ;-)
I think Chris Goodwin is filling in for him at the clashing meetings.
I've also heard that Lee Caroline could be making guest appearances this year. Should be awesome as usual!

Neither Darren or Chris will be driving for HTML this year. We tested Roland Rehfeld last week and he proved to be right on the pace, as a result of this we shall be running Roland this year in the #69 car.
