Ralf fastest in Practice 1
After all our bashing, poor Ralf must have heard us, because he is fastest in Practice 1. It is also interesting that Mark Webber is third and Alonso is 5th. Interesting.

Looks like another strong effort from Webber. Good to see a good performance by both Williams drivers.

Yes , Webber was the one for me in that session ....Ralf looked terrible at the beginning of the sesson , put sorted it all out to go fastest...
Pizza boy was quickest for quite a while too until his car packed up .......Jag may have taken a good step up by the looks of things after their great showing in Brazil. |

They might've been running low fuel. I refuse to believe that the Williams and Jaguar are suddenly the best cars out there.
Did anyone else noticed that the Ferraris set an identical time? |

Whatever the case of fuel loads etc, that's certainly an impressive showing from Williams and Jaguar have to be considered as an improving team with recent performances.
However, let's just wait until qualifying before jumping to conclusions! |

Is not a problem of fuel loads anymore... 30 minutes into first qual and Ralf is sitting in 3rd, behind of Ferraris. JPM is 4th. and the Macs are 5-6. Let's see the Jags now.

Looks like Ralf has outqualified his team mate by .3 secs but it doesn't matter because its only first qualifying.

...and Jenson outqualified Jacques as well, altough not by much. But what's important is that both Honda boys beat the Macs

As mentioned we do not know what fuel levels, etc. each driver was running, but Pizzonia is still a long way off Webber...

It was a good performance from Ralf - he's letting his driving do the talking. Half a second of Ferrari's pace is still a lot but maybe Williams will go for a slightly more aggressive pit strategy for qualifying tomorrow..you never know.
Webber was very impressive. He's certainly surprised me with his genuine pace. Good luck to him. On the other side of the grid, Da Matta and Toyota were the biggest disappointment for me.. |

Great effort from Webber he said he made a small error in the first sector but on F1-Live but who cares.
Top job Webber Ralf also showed true speed MS fastest in all three sectors ( his still got it ) I think the Kimmi & DC will stay around the same spots in Q2 and the race will comeback to them let tme just say GO WEBBER |

I was reading an old Autiosprout which had an interview with Da Matta. Apart from the qualifying regime which mitigates against him he says that an F1 car is so different from anything else he's driven that its taking time to get used to it.
