Any August Options ????

We are a married couple from Queensland, Australia.
Each of us is a CAMS-accredited motor race marshal.
We shall be in Britain during August 2003.
Can we participate as marshals in any circuit racing or hillclimb?

If You would like to try and do something different during your stay then come and marshal the 12hr Lawnmower race on 2/3 August.
I do nor know if you have an equivalent in Australia but it would give you something to talk about back home. We will be having a social camp out and get together on the Friday night the 1st. We can provide yoy with accomadation as there will be plenty of room. let me know,
Regards,
Rich S.
BLMRA 12hr Chief Marshal.

Of course. Clubs will be keen to know what you are happy doing but there are almost no (insurmountable) problems. Unless of course you want to be clerk of the course when someone might require something (actually ours are required to hold a licence). Just tell the club what you usually do and perhaps give an idea of how many years you have been doing it.

To see what is on in August I suggest that you visit http://www.marshals.org.uk/ for the list of what races are on (it is not so strong on hillclimbs) and http://www.marshalspost.com/index.php to see where our race circuits are.

For the British hillclimb championship see http://www.top12runoff.co.uk/. There are three dates in August, two in England and one in Northern Ireland.

Once you have got your location/ dates from the above sorted you can volunteer through http://www.marshals.org.uk/. If you have any questions come back to this list and someone will sort out what you want.

Regards

Jim

I'll second that. Send me a PM if you'd like any details and I'll fill you in on the event. We should be able to find accomodation, too, depending on what you're looking for (camping, B&B, etc). You'll be very welcome. Go to http://www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk/ to get some idea of the venue.

Come to sunny Angelsey
There's two weekend's "Back To Back" run by the BARC and the BRSCC respectively.

Anglesey is a small but very friendly track right on the coast, which means that the views of the snowdonia mountain range is fantastic, should the racing ever become boring! (It never has yet)

It's similar to Bondi Beach ( )
Come on over for a weekend - you'll definately have the time of your life!

Anglesey has been described as like Philip Island but ten degrees colder.

Don't forget the Oulton Park Gold Cup August Bank holiday weekend, 24 & 25, to see many cars from the past race once again.

WOW !

Thanks everyone for the wonderful response to our enquiry.
We have decided to offer to marshal at Shelsley Walsh and at Oulton Park for the Gold Cup.
Two long weekends is about our limit within our time in UK.
Hope to meet up with many of you during our trip.
