My all time favourite?
That would be Ayrton Senna, because of his passion for racing. That guy was one of a kind. |

Not everything is good about Senna, y'know.
Very passionate but also a very agressive driver, much more agressive than TGF was in his earlier years. |

Seriously, Alesi and Michael Schumacher. Simply because they never give up when they are on track.

All-time favourites for different reasons:
Mika H - fairly obvious really wasn't it? Keke Rosberg Sir Jackie Stewart Jim Clark Olivier Panis Heinz-Harald Frentzen Rubens Barrichello for being an all-round nice chappie Johnny Herbert - same reason as Barrichello Eddie Irvine (for his kindness to my handicapped brother more than anything he's ever done on the track) |

All time faves are Gilles Villeneuve and Mika Hakkinen.
Current faves, Jacques Villeneuve though he really hasn't given me much to cheer about lately and Kimi Raikkonen. I like Kimi because he shares similiar traits to Hakkinen plus he's a lot more aggressive. He also only seems to be getting better. |

Doesn't it seem sad that drivers like Fisichella, Coultard, Barrichello, and Ralf all have secure seats in F1, despite having had race winning cars for many more seasons than Jacques, yet failing to chalk up as many wins as he (let alone a WDC) that it is Jacques who doesn't have a drive in F1??? Sad indeed. |

I posted this on another forum a while back...these are my 10 favourite drivers of all time, from all categories:
Damon Hill (the first Formula One driver I supported) Mika Hakkinen (Mika was fantastic, great bloke, great driver) Dick Johnson (first racing driver I ever supported, V8 Supercar driver) Glen Seton (the best driver never to win Bathurst 1000) Jacques Villenueve (finally starting to have a chance at podiums again!) Kimi Raikkonen (in the Hakkinen mould) Juan Montoya (very fast, star of the future if he gets a decent car...) Jim Clark (IMO the greatest that has ever lived) Alain Prost (underrated, people overlook that he's won more races than anyone bar MS...3rd best driver ever for me) Mario Andretti (Along with Clark, the greatest ever...won in so many diverse categories) Actually JV's position is under increasing threat in that list |

Favourite All-Time:
Mika Hakkinen - The Flying Finn. Took him a while to get started, but following him from the start in 1991 was immensely satisfying when he dominated in 1998. Jim Clark - IMO (and many others) the greatest F1 driver of all time. I wasn't alive during his time, but I've done immense research on him, read a lot of books, watched a lot of video. On top of that, he seemed a top bloke as well, despite being a rather quiet chap. Nigel Mansell - Brave, determined and bloody fast. He may have been a whiner, but he got the job done. |

jbisminesothere, just to ask, why Button? Much like Ralf (and this is not a stab at anyone) I don't understand why people support him, so I would be intrigued know what the appeal is.
As for me, I like racers. Mansell was the first driver I supported and was the driver that got me hooked on F1 in 1990. I made the natural progression to Hill from there. My current favourite is Montoya who shows a lot of the bravery, courage and balls to the wall driving that made Mansell so appealing. Besides these guys I have a deep respect and admiration for Jim Clark, Gilles Villeneuve and of course Ayrton Senna - the greatest of all time. |

In no particular order (and I'm sure I'll foget someone). Hakkinen, Senna, Clark, Emmo, Senna, Damon, Prost, Montoya, Keke, Berger, Stewart, Kimi, Patrese...
I've only listed the drivers that are primarily F1. |

Hmm, fave driver for multiple reasons? Not gonna include motorbikes otherwise the decision gets very tough. It always changes but here's a few I liked for verious reasons:
Australian: 1. John Bowe. No mucking about, fast, reliable. Off track and on. 2. Glen Seton. Nice guy, fast guy, but oh god how unlucky can you get? 3. Larry Perkins. Made it to F1 and but for a few dodgey calls could have done it but I don't think it suited his nature. Made his own racing team, understood the engineering side as well as racing. Brilliant owner-driver. 4. Jim Richards. Just plain quick. Still quick. Not bad for an old guy. 5. Mark Skaife. Consumate professional, very fast. I often think he'd have been an F1 champion if he'd wanted to be one and had the break. Overseas: 1. Aguri Suzuki: Dunno why, but when I was a kid Mr Suzuki seemed like an OK guy and a decent driver. There was a race I remember he was up the back and besides the lead car, he was the fastest guy. So I figured he might be a fighter. Never saw much during this era but I took a liking to him. 2. Nigel Mansell: I did watch bits and pieces of 92, and mansell was awesome. But my dislike for Senna having seen him hit Prost years before was rekindled in Australia. I knew Senna was fast, but I also figured from here that he was the worst kind of bad sportsman. Nigel seemed damn good that year though. 3. Fisichella: I think he's a top class driver and Eddie keeps him because he knows he's worth every cent. 4. Clark: I haven't seen his races but what I've read of him, seems like he was just a natural, but a clever natural with a good dose of down to earth attitude and humility. Something to respect. 5. Rubens Barrichello: He must have a fistful of faith in himself to keep racing, knowing you're No 2, but trying to win anyway yet when it's called for doing your duty. He's not slow either. I personally think in a square fight he'd beat Eddie Irvine, DC, RS and JPM. KR and Alonso might give him hassle but years of toe to toe with Michael and sometimes beating him outright, it's made him fast. Seems to be a fairly passionate person but not stupid. So I sometimes think of him as one of the better drivers out there. |

although im a fan of button myself, i'd have to go with either Jhonny Herbert (which i appear to be unable to spell), he was such a character, or maybe jean alesi. these are the best drivers i have ever seen race and i dont deny there are some who were probably better, but its more than likely i dont remember them
