It just means that PT will have to come through the field to win...he's done it many times before.

I wasn't thinking when I logged onto 10Tenths this afternoon, and the thread title was rather a spoiler for me 'cause I was looking forward to watching quals on SV. I guess I forgot to take the time difference into consideration. Understandable considering how hungover I was.

I think Manning could do well too... he raced a bit of ascar and was pretty strong at Rockingham last year.

I'm seriously impressed with Bourdias. I was never a huge believer in his talent to make it big from watching him in French F3 or 3000, but you can't argue with 3 poles in his first 5 outings.

He has been very impressive, but I wouldn't get too high on him for this one... 99% of that time was the car. The driver are simply putting their right foot to floor and steering the car left, thus setup is huge. Newman-Haas has a lower downforce setup, and thus will be faster.
As with any oval race of this type, his challenge will be 50% strategy and 50% keeping his nose clean. |

Somehow you've got to figure in the 50% for everybody else keeping their noses clean!

I thought the rookies did very well, especially Alex Yoong for the first time on an oval. Haberfeld actually held down pole position til the Big Kids came out, and his time was very good indeed.
And I'd count the cars carefully tomorrow in case there are 20 ... as a certain very fast Z-man might just try to sneak on that grid ... |

Like I said, setup is huge. And I think the race might be such that qualifying position is less important than it was at the ovals last year.

Set up, team quality, whatever. The absolute most impressive part about Sebastian is that not only did he do well, he put himself on pole on his first oval ever! This kid is the next Senna for sure!
