Where has Gualter Salles been running lately? I haven't heard much about him lately.

One more...
It's an old connection: In 1997 Gualter Salles joined Davis Racing in CART. When Davis Racing closed shop, he joined the Payton Coyne Team in 1998 to drive in six CART events. Until 2000 he drove in CART for All American Racers, Bettenhausen Motorsports and Payton Coyne Racing. At least one more Brazilian and perhaps a new race in Brazil...?

I forgot about the Payton/Coyne team. Walter Payton was my favourite NFL player of all time. That was a great Chicago Bears team. It's a shame he (Payton) is no longer with us.

Maybe Young thought he was gonna have an easier time and after some poor performances pulled out not to "embarrass" himself, cause you know... he's gonna be in F1 again soon . Who knows why $$$$$

...sad but true. Minardi in F1 could have the same sponsor.

The list says there are 13 replies, but I don't see any. Were they deleted intentionally?

Lee... Your Coyne sponsor idea made me chuckle. Good funny.
Didn't Salles drive select events for Penske a few years back? I've got nothing against Yoong, but for some reason I've always liked Salles. Hopefully he can get some results for Coyne, he deserves it. |

From the article posted above...
“I don’t know what I will do in the future,” Salles continued. “I’ll probably do more races on CART series this year, but I intend to stay on Brazilian Stock Car, because I’m racing for the title there and this is very important for me and my sponsors.” Sounds to me like his contract is race-to-race. Maybe I should start buying some lottery tickets, and all of you might end up rooting for me in Coyne's car at Fontana! |

Interesting news, still it's nice to see someone with CART experience back behind the wheel.

I don't see why Yoong was dropped. He outperformed Camathias, although that really isn't saying much I guess...

I'm quite surprised at this, because Alex's funding always seemd pretty secure. Maybe he's not getting as much publicity as his backer shad hoped.
Driver changes midseason at Dale Coyne are ludicrousy frequent, it always shows the problem with running paydrivers. What is their record number of drivers for a single season? |
