Naughty boy Flavio

Did anyone notice when they showed Flav on the pit wall he had a packet of Marlboro lights - despite his team being sponsored by Mild Seven... surely he could easily get a lackey to fill Mild Seven packets with Marlboro lights ??

Besides which isnt smoking on the pit wall a bit daft with all that racing fuel about? or does the law not apply to Flav (yes I know it did'nt in 1994 and 1995 but...) because hes not from a racing background?

He quite often appears in Autosport (etc...) photos with a packet of Marly lights. He quite often keeps them in his Mild Seven pocket!

In all seriousness, I'm suprised he gets away with it (unless he's trying to steal Marlboro).

Sponsors pay very big money for the image F1 gives them and tobacco or not, they should'nt have it tarnished by Team bosses.

I wonder do any of the other bosses takes Flav seriously, I mean, he is not really a motor racing man is he, he's a fashion man. I can't see Frank and Ron sitting down with him to discuss the Concorde Agreement.

Maybe some Mild Seven's idiot lawyer forgot to put that specific situation in the contract, 'coz noone would actually expect him to have cigarettes in his hands during the GP?

And, Flav's lawyers sure wouldn't remind them that he smokes Marlboro.

Ha ha ha... I love it! Briatore does what he likes because he is a succesful team chief. Mild Seven can do its sums and see if thay prefer Flav smoking Marls or a loser readily smoking Milds cigarettes.

I also like he is not a "motor racing man", because sometimes I get tired of the supposed "pedigree" of some people who see themselves as "superior". Lol, let's look at the records of people and then we can choose. I prefer to have in F1 some useful people from the "outside".

BTW, if I remember well, no other than Bernie suggested that FB could be one day his successor =:-o Now, I find it bizarre! (Was it true, or I missed my pills that day?)

I think Flavio has shown himself good at his role. Renault aren't exactly failing, are they?

The rules state NO SMOKING in the pit lane and it's well known Mr B gets fined on a regular basis for ignoring them. Actually, you are not allowed to smoke anywhere that is in front of the garages.

Can't stand him myself. Doesn't seem to treat drivers very well (not that he's alone there) and his smoking just shows a flagrant (or should that be fragrant?) disregard of safety.

He is a consumate business man, A fashion guy yes, but Benetton has always been a average to good team- even winning a champion ship so He can help bring renault to the Fore- and as him not treating his drivers well, he treats them well enough, all team members are equal to him, so they are making strides as a group now, good for Renault which is more likely to blame than Flav- but Bernie like him so lets hope he's got his head out of his arse if he does succeed Mr E.

Shouldn't he get a ban then. If a driver consistantly breaks a rule (yellow or blue flag oe whatever), then the driver would get a suspended ban or whatever wouldn't he?

Well, maybe I am a bad person, but I think it is quite amusing. It is like he has been bad at school, if you think of the fines as a punishment exercise. It seems to show a limitation in the system certainly, from Flav's perspective I am sure the fines do not represent too much of a threat to him. So, he decides to take their "punishment" and gets to do as he pleases.

Part of me thinks yes, indeed, it shouldn't occur.

The other part of me supports Flav.

I wonder if Mild Seven has ever had or will have a chat with Flavio over this "Marlboro incident". From a sponsor standpoint, it basically negates all their sponsor efforts???

Does it?

How many times has the name Mild Seven been written in this thread? How many people have read it, and how many times? Naturally, we are thinking about F1 and their involvement in it. We are having a discussion surrounding them, and their product.

Yes, Marlboro are mentioend too. Okay. The negative attitude part of it seems to be aimed at Flav, so it is not punishing Mild Seven at all really.

Strikes me they have got a pretty good deal going on with this situation

But for a sponsor, it looks "nicer" when their team principal is lighting up a Mild Seven than a Marlboro. While you are correct, we debating and talking about Mild Seven, more people probably see Flavio lighting up a Marlboro instead?
