Other teams in F1?

After seeing what people thought of Bentley joining F1, what other teams would you like to see make the F1 line-up?

Jaguar to be renamed Ford would be a nice start.

As for new teams MG, Subaru and Audi are the only manufacturers I'd like to see. Any privateer is welcome in my books.

MG... Why not? They've done (fairly) well with the 3-series program launched a few years back (BTCC, Le Mans, Rallying) - F1 is the next step!

I'd love to see an Audi. As long as the car was as pretty as some of their other motorsport efforts

Like the idea of a full Honda team - hope they take over BAR (sorry BAR fans! )

Subaru would be nice - another new identity for BAR perhaps??

Forget manufacturers, I want privateer teams, in the mould of Jordan and Sauber.

Not sure about Subaru in F1, would be a bit strange.... and i think they'd be better in Rallying. But the other idea's are good, keep 'em coming!

They built an F1 engine back in 1990. It was in the back of a Coloni driven by Gachot. It never pre qualified...

Manoz has it on the head. If anything I want to see the manufacturers pull out and allow more of the bread-and-butter teams to race. Ideally I'd love to see teams like Rocketsports and Rahal able to enter and compete with the top teams. The manufacturer involvement is fleeting and will not create a real racing championship.

The MG/Rover group was bought for a "tenner" from BMW.
The chances of securing a budget are slim.

Ok, non-manufacturer teams (i.e. less realistic in making it to F1):

Carlin (in a few years, surely surely, they will be able to graduate - Trevor Carlin would make a great team boss!)

Promatecme (cos I love 'em and they have a cool name - could maybe also be in the guise of serge Saulnier/Saulnier Racing)

Joest (with the works Audi of course! lol!)

A very nice Yorkshire team (hehe!) with one of the really good Yorkshire blokes running it - John Booth, John Village (actually, they could have a joint venture!) That would be a great team - but I think they're too nice for F1 (sorry, I don't generally like F1 team bosses - I couldn't think of 5 I liked - let alone my 5 favourties!!)

With the exception of any of the VAG marques, I doubt ant new manufacturers would enter. Though keystrokes'()suggestion of ALFA Romeo and Maserati suggets the possibility of Ferrari "Junior teams" in F1.

Honestly, once the MFR's pull out, (and its inevitable) only the continued presence of real racing teams will allow the sport to survive. I would suggest the Astromega, and DAMS might be the two most likely additions

Couldn't agree more. One team I would like to not see in F1 is Jaguar (winning or otherwise).

Again another I'd like to see at Le Mans not in F1.

Although I liked the TAG McLarens.

Is there any sign of a new F1 team on the horizon?

We need more than 20 cars.

What about Dams?

I always thought that Richards would take the Prodrive name into F1, oh well...

I believe DAMS built an F1 car several years ago and had Allan McNish test it , but they couldnt raise the cash to get in , but I could be wrong.

I like the idea of non manufacturer teams ,using a generic engine like the old Ford DFV or DFR that was used 10 to 15 years ago.

manufacturers are great for the sport up to a point.

we have seen this in other classes such as super touring , when the costs get to high or they win everything and dont wanna prove anything anymore or they are completely uncompetitive then they go running.

this leaves the sport in ruins because no one has a decent engine deal , so if teams could come in and use a generic engine and then try and get a works deal on their results I think this would be excellent.

but on the other hand it would be great to see all these manufacturers on an F1 grid battling it out to be the best in the world , but i still feel there needs to be a fallback plan when they all start pulling out.
