Great rivalries of our time...
Brock/Moffat, Brock/Johnson, Brock/Grice, Bowe/Seton, Skaife/Seton, Lowndes/Skaife, Ambrose/Skaife. Murphy/Stewards.
Since the seventies, there have been some fierce rivalries. What are your thoughts? These are just some that come to mind. |

Bowe/Seton was a rivalry in '95 wasnt it, DJ didnt help with his "speed bump" remarks from previous years, but didnt Seton bump Bowe going across the top at Bathurst, causing the Shell shytbox to DNF??
They partnered each other in 1987 too didnt they?? |

Yes GTRMagic. Bowwe and Seton did wage a good war in '95, both on and off the track.
I'm not sure about the Seton/Skaife thing though. They were good mates and I foundly remember the pair racing down the back straight at Sandown waving at each other in '96. But I can't recall on-track battles worth of a mention. You could put Murphy/Ingall from 1997 in the list. These two didn't mind bending panels or bruising egos ... And what about Romano/Forbes. There's a story to tell the kids. Maybe Thexton/105% ... |

Romano/Forbes of course, that's a beauty. They have so much in common.

Theres another War, as yet unresolved, maybe we should call it Afghanistan, The Forgotten War.
Seton VS Mount Panorama. Every year another battle is waged, a bit like David & Goliath, I guess, until now with Prodrive helping load the slingshot |

Bowe was sideways for the prior 15 laps thru there though, not saying it was deserved but you could see how something like that could happen

Also the fact that they were totally off racing line at the time of the crash, with Bowe moving across.....
How about Allan Grice vs Frank Gardner or Allan Grice vs John Trimbole or Wayne Gardner vs Tom Walkinshaw or how about Matt Neal vs what seems like all of Australia |

Seto is not one to "punt" a driver off at Bathurst,he's way to smart for that caper."Captian Conservative" plays the numbers game and knows that involvement in an incident greatly swings the balance to the wrong side of the ledger. You rarely see him put a foot wrong and damage the car(although the last few years in the handleing wilderness has been a bit average)
With the exception of being pinged for failing to indicate whilst entering pit lane in the mid 90's (and co-incidently being hit by race leader Bowe as he limped in with a flat tyre)and no doubt the odd pit speeding fine this year I think you would really struggle to find any punishment doled out to GS ever!! |

I'd pretty much agree there. I can't remember a blatant or deliberate act of thuggery on another driver really. About the only other major off he's had in recent memory apart from PI in a few years ago was the one at the top of the hill at Lakeside in '97 allowing others to close up a bit in the points. |

Skaife and Seton fought out the '94 title so there was a bit of sting in that one, but not in any way nasty, just tough.

More incidents than rivalries, but Longhurst vs Morris in the Super Tourers was pretty cool!
And Alan Jones and Skaifey at Simmons Plains just about coming to blows in the pits. I think over the next few years the Skaife Ambrose rivalry could be the biggest we've had for a while. I think everyone thought that a Ford equipped Lowndes would have been Fords hero to take it up to Skaife, but so far Ambrose has been Fords golden boy and Skaife's single biggest challenger. |

Murph V Bargs
Whilst probably more of a media beat up this would rank highly over the last two years. |

Tom Walkinshaw Vs any bank and/or court you care to mention?? |

------------------------------------------------------------------------ I don't think you will find this true. Skaife blitzed the field in the first 3 rounds of the series, and remained consistent throughout the rest of the season to secure the championship well before the last round at Oran Park ... |

What about Gardner/Lowndes in '96. There little biff at Bathurst for the ATCC round was a bit of a classic ...
Actually, Gardner had a bit of a spell with just about everyone. Dick/Skaife/Tomas/Crompton('93 Wannaroo). |
