ozracer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
staggering castor

Has anybody tried staggering castor? ie have say 4 degrees on the left and 6 degrees on the right. I was just thinking that as most tracks have predominantly left or right hand turns with a few of the other, there may be something to gain by doing this. Would you gain anything by setting the castor diferrent each side, or would it just unbalance the car too much. Maybe you would lose a tenth on say the three left handers but pick up two tenths on the 7 right handers.

It is done quite a lot in oval track racing and is called castor split, not quite sure how it works but combined with ackerman etc etc it is effective, try one of the US sites to find out.
PS I have tried different springs across the front at similair tracks to what you mention and have had good results.

oval racers do it . . .look at the indy lotus JIm Clark raced, even the wishbones where different lengths

not sure how it would affect the feel of the car going through a complex or chicane, might be very strange

Castor split or castor lead should only be used on tracks where nearly all the corners are in the same direction and you have a lot of time to test and get it right.

You'd want ot find a lot of time in it to bother though. It's usually more grief than it's worth on road courses.
