alt bushings

Hi! newbie here so I'm wondering if this is the right forum to ask but here I go...
Can one mount alt to the engine with solid metal bushes? Few guys have do this and aren't complaining. Problem is that my underhood temperatures are so high that rubber bushes (?) melts and alt starts to toe.
TIA Tzei

Hi Tzei
I have replaced rubber with aluminium for the same reason and it works fine.

You may have to pay a bit of attention to some of the wireing internaly as the extra vibrations can shorten the life,I knew a guy who used to prep them for teams in Australia and he used glue(Areldite)to afix things to lenghten the life.It may be an over kill for your type of racing but worth a thought anyway

Areldite is wicked stuff, if you use it, don't plan on ever taking the thing out. We use it to bond strctural aluminum skins, ans parts in our steering rack...we one time had a stress failure where the shaft failed before the glue

there are numerous different types of 'araldite ' type adhesives, as well as potting compounds which are great for stopping electrical components vibrating to bits . . . .a simple tip, dont pot it until you've checked it . . . . .try getting the stuff off afterwards !!!
