TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
FPR need a Ross Brawn QUICKLEY!

After following GS for the last 6 years when he was running both FTR & GSR, the main thing that Seto was missing was a
Race Technition like Ross Brawn.
Seto over the years has lead races only to loose them cause of a late pit call and stratagy. So I raise the question does FPR need a Ross Brawn type of person, watching CL this year there have being alot of late calls to the pits and stuffing up his race, even as late as last weekend NZ race, so a well as FPR engine from OS do they need to bring in a Race Tech?.

The only problem with FPR is trying to run a 3 car team . Drop one car and just run two , they would do alot better I reckon .

FPR is a team of 2 halves, the CAT car gets the sterling service, the other 2 gets whats left. Watch them at the circuit, they are prepared distinctly separately.

And I agree they should learn to walk before they run, and 2 cars would be a lot easier on the team.

What also ruined some of their preparations was the 3 car attack at Bathurst, having been assured they didnt have to run the leased franchise, only to be told that they did, the resources diverted would have impacted the program.

Would have been better to lend the slot to a Konica runner already appearing in the race, and not run the 3rd car. But thats likely too clever.

Ford have gone from putting most of their eggs in one or two baskets to setting up a number of large teams, two of which have international owners.

The size and more importantly depth of experienced V8 Supercar staff is simply not large enough to provide all of these new teams with the people that they need.

As a result, we have this "robbing from Peter to pay Paul" scenario now happening almost entirely within the Ford teams.

The situation should improve in the medium term, with some imports and local guys getting more experience.

But for now, we have situations like Mr Little. It wasn't the first and I'm sure wont be the last.

This remarkable sport is now in a situation where technical staff are being turned into millionaires along with some drivers.

Where will it all end?

Good call Dave. I do have an idea for Ford though - set up FMS, have all the expert Ford techies work for it but align FMS with say SBR, build the cars, have SBR develop them then hand them down to the other teams. If a Ford team requires expertise, loan them a few FMS techies

Why would SBR give away their proprietary intellectual property, developed as a result of their toil and effort, and paid for by Caltex & Pirtek for the benefit of the other Ford teams?

Ford should be underwriting SBR to the tune of 4 cars, period.

Because they can... and the car preparation agreements are set so tightly, and using HRT-supplied crews on holidays that the IP always remains in the family.

I see your point but HRT were a 2 car team with IP worth guarding too. The sponsor issue could be sticky but FoMoCo also payed for it.

But really, I don't think this kind of arrangement is ultimately good for the sport, to me the HMS arrangement is a means to work around many rules and is an excellent example of how good Holden are at politics.

Not doubting any of that Kieron, but it proves that this strategy works, while the Ford strategy seems not to.

But 2004 will be the year of the SuperTeams, with a number of the Ford mobs equipped financially to theoretically take the fight up to SHRT/KKRT/PWR.... the only question remains with some of them is technical skills, driver lineup or the curse of the black jellybean... not one team has all these elements working for them 100%
