most dominant race ride
The most dominant I've seen was Colin Edwards in the wet at Phillip Island 2001. He lead by half a minute at one stage I think.

Do they have season reviews of MotoGP like they have for Formula 1?
I would love to see Wayne Rayney(sp?), Kevin Schwantz and Mick going at it again... Last edited by ASCII Man; 21 Dec 2003 at 01:36. |

Mick Doohan World Superbikes (Yamaha) Oran park 1988. Lapped everyone up to about 4th place in both races. Awesome!!
His world SBK record - 4 races / 3 wins. Any wonder Honda signed him for the 500's in 1989? |

The only season they have is 2002 I think. They do have WSBK 2001 and 2002 reviews on DVD though. That's the best I can think of. |

If you want to see dominance, I suggest you locate videos of guys like Lawson, Schwantz (particularly '93) and Rainey, who used to annihilate fields week in, week out.

Quite a few of Carl Fogarty's races in 1999 were dominant.

There are 500cc GP season reviews going all the way back to 1984.

I think the only fair way to rate race wins is non wet races as setup and rider preference plays such a part in wet conditions aswell as track knowledge.
Doohan won a lod of races in the Repsol Honda days by twenty or more races and that to me is true dominance, much like Foggy in his heyday, or perhaps Polen aswell. |

I was there for that race - amazing, got a good case of sun burn and at the time I was a Mike Dowson fan. Then this kid comes out and blows them away. On Mick's fall from grace in turn one at the Island in '97. Was there for that one too and couldn't believe it - as he didn't complete the race to say this was the best most dominant race of all is a bit over the top. And to get the masturbator of the year award - I was at the Island this year to see Rossi just grab that Honda and aim it at the horizon with 10 seconds to make up. That was truely amazing. And as I'm 40, I'm not really a "flash in the pan Rossi fan". |

That certainly is my recollection of those 17 laps.
Some of the guys I was staying with did a beer run after the race and ran into Mick in the bottle shop. Amazing. |

If Doohan at Phillip Island 1997 was dominant, then how about Rossi at Catalunya 2003? Drops from 2nd to about 14th, makes up about 5 places a lap, and would have won if the race had been 1 lap longer

Alot of Foggy's races in the late 90's were dominant. I bet if Rossi really turned it on from the start of a race he would dominate nearly every race. Poggiali at Muggello this year was bad, about 22 seconds in front!
