NW FF1600 Dates - CONFIRMED

PLEASE DISREGARD THE DATES POSTED YESTERDAY AS PROVISIONAL

A lot has happened since [behind the scenes]
The 21 August Oulton round has definitely been lost.
The Leinster MC are now going to run on the original May 22/23 weekend date at Anglesey.
The first round at Oulton on 24 April has become a double header to compensate for the lost August date..
I tried to get an Oulton round with BARC, but they have no slots available.

THE DATES BELOW CAN BE CONSIDERED DEFINITE

OPAL TELECOM NORTH WEST FF1600 CHAMPIONSHIP 2004
9 Race Meetings Total 13 races, best 11 scores to count

R1 / R2 24-Apr Oulton Park BRSCC Double Header
R3 15-May Oulton Park BRSCC
R4 / R5 22-May 23-May Anglesey Leinster MC Double Header
R6 / R7 19-Jun 20-Jun Anglesey BRSCC Double Header
R8 26-Jun Oulton Park BRSCC
R9 31-Jul Oulton Park BRSCC
R10 / R11 14-Aug 15-Aug Anglesey BRSCC Double Header
R12 18-Sep Oulton Park BRSCC
R13 09-Oct Oulton Park BRSCC

Anglesey rounds are also qualifiers for the Anglesey Star Series

Very posh with the bold type!

Cheers Diz.

In fairness we have a really good spread of the dates. Nice and even through the year. Lets hope we have more full circuit races than last year

Diz if you can use your magic and arrange for the 19th & 20th June Anglesey races to be first on the Sat then I should only need to miss the 15th May round? I could go to the wedding after the race and then be back in time for the Sunday race. Any chance???

An option for the Leinster MC Anglesey [more like a definite, as it would be better for them also] is to still be a double header, but all to be run on the Sunday only

This cuts down on needing to stop over the whole weekend - which will appeal to some of you, as it reduces the financial outlay. Also, as Anglesey is about 1.5 hours further than Oulton, but starts 1 hour later, you would only need to set out 0.5 hour earlier than an Oulton round. See the way I think of you.

What are your thoughts?

I think that is a good idea. Although I like the whole weekend event about Anglesey. Testing Friiday then racing Sat and Sunday. It is better than mowing the lawn anyway!!

Call me daft, but was is BTTT????

No Diz, keep the weekend. That's the whole fun thing of Anglesey. We should have some great weather at that time of year which is always a bonus. A bit of racing, then down to the beach for a B-B-Q. Brilliant.

I take it the 3 races in one weekend problem has been sorted now???

Chris,
An. "Back to the Top"
Two out of three weekends ain't bad.
The 2 BRSCC Angleseys' will be Sat & Sun as usual.
The Leinster MC will 95% certainly be all on the Sunday. The reason being ferry related. We are the only UK races. The rest of the programme is for Irish classes and most will need to catch the return ferry as soon as possible [work on Monday and all that].
We are likely to be earlyish races for round 4 and last races for round 5.
The 3 races in one weekend problem has disappeared now, with a date change.

You can still test on Friday, all inclusive race entry and test day fee GBP325 [DH Entry fee alone is GBP270]
This is OK for those wanting the weekend away, BBQ on beach etc.
Little chance of a Saturday test, as it is day one of a race meeting weekend.

Right. So the meeting is still over the weekend, but our races are on the Sunday.

Even better. Testing on Friday with a few choice Shandy's Friday evening. Then relax and watch some racing on Saturday. Then go for it Sunday.

So the Leinster meeting at Anglesey is part of the main NW champs this year and not just part of the Star of Anglesey?

Don't know if anyone has noticed but looking at some of the dates it looks like Karting Dad and co will be rushed off their feet to get the cars ready in time. Meeting at Oulton in May, followed by a double header at Anglesy the weekend after and then another double header at Anglesey in June, followed by Oulton Park the following week.

Seems a bit tight on time to me, imagine if you have a accident or an engine let go on a sunday. That would leave you say 3 days to get it sorted before being out again.

Also 3 races in the space of two weeks twice makes it a bit hard on the old wallet.

Speaking of wallet goughy, have you heard anything on the race fees this year? We have received calendars etc, but nothing else.

No, know its 50 pounds registration. Expect fees will stay much the same. My point above is that, like we had in 2003, with so many races in the same month, you have got to find with testing and entry fees around 500 pounds before you even hit the track. I know for us, if you are doing the whole championship like we were in 03, its a real struggle.

But these are the dates, so we now know what to plan for. I suppose with the National Kent champs starting too, the calander was always going to be a nightmare.

I can imagine. And there are two of you this year isn't there?

Are the rumours I hear true that you will be using a 2004 Swift?

PM if needs be?

Yep Ian will be out in the Swift 95 in NW 16000, while I will be in the UK Formula Ford Champs. I'd like to do the odd round of NW still, someone would have to lend me a car however. Any offers???

Can you tell me? Is it true that the 2004 is basically a '92 chassis with new trick bits....

Regards any offers, if you think you could get my Swift '89 to go, you would be welcome to try.........

Well I'll be at all the meetings and test days next year with Ian, just grab me, I would be more than happy to put a few laps in and help you out.

The 2004 is based on the 2000/2001 Swift but with all the lessons they leant changed for this one.
