Crompton at HRT!!

Just reading the latest issue of Mnews where it said that Neil Crompton will be driving the HRT ridecar this year. I wonder whether this will change to enduro driver with HRT later in the year now that TL and JR have left for Perkins Motorsport.

The evil empire finds another way to ensure raceday exposure. Employ the commentator

Worse than that, if Cromley's on steering duty, (and good luck to him, BTW...) who the hell are they going to hand the microphone to?

Once bitten, twice shy for Crompton I would have thought - given the shabby treatment he received from HRT in the early 90's.

More likely to be an in-between commentary job, if anything.

I was wondering who would drive with HRT later in the year and when my brother said that Crompton was at HRT's launch, it made me think. I hope he does well.
Has Crompton ever one Bathurst in a V8? if he hasn't this is his best chance if the drive ends up being true.

No he hasn't won Bathurst yet, I would love to see him drive with Skaifey. If he did, that would be his shot at winning. Plus he and Skaifey are great mates to so it wouldn't surprise me if he does join them.

And Sizzle by the way didn't Crompton commentate when he was employed with 00Motorsport, he didn't show any bias then so I don't he will now.

12 Hour

If Brock has won 10 then certainly Cromley is not a victory virgin.

In 1993 or 94 he won the 12 hour in an RX7.

Pretty funny in the press conference post race, one writer asked him if "now that you have won a race, are you going to retire?"

Crompton didnt need to say a word!!!!!!!!

You'd think that in the natural order of things, Crompton would be in one of the cars, probably the second entry.

Its only the ride program, and it makes life easier for SHRT with AVESCO if a non-current driver, who happens to be a commentator on the very sport they are employed to control, is actively involved in that program to keep the skills and knowledge levels up.

Especially as it will probably be 15 days a year max he will be required for, and noone can complain about current drivers getting extra miles in the cars... plus the crowd going for rides are already knowing who Cromley is...

Very smart tactical thinking on behalf of SHRT.

If Crompton drives at HRT this year let's hope he remembers to take a jerry can with him.

I'd like to see him get an enduro drive with HRT but i can't see Channel 10 letting him do Sandown & Bathurst instead of commentating, i'd hate to think who they'd get to take his place in the commentary team.

How about Bert and Moira, with a cross to the Danoz Direct pit report?

With Matty White leaving before the Olympics, and Crompton possibly having driving duties for Sandown and Bathurst, exactly who does it leave to commentate? Rusty and Oastler? Bill Woods? Darryl Beattie? Grant Kenny?

I think it is very unlikely that Crompton will get an endurance drive with HRT.

Well i think they need someone of his calibre. Seems experienced drivers will be pretty scarce this year.

TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Bad move Cromly, but does this now mean that Cromly will be peddling the SHRT bandwagon on CH10 coverage.

Yep , but for just once they could get some of the younger drivers on tv to improve their profile..maybe then their ratings might rise..
