Apparently toyota is seeking a ride for F1 refugee Tora Takagi. The ex-Tyrrell driver is looking to restart his flagging racing career. Who will cast aside in favor of Takagi? With the possibility of three cars being gone from next year's grid, who is looking to be without a ride?

Who still runs Toyotas who needs a pilot? The only open seat I know of is at Patrick and they are not running Toyotas ...
Maybe if he brings money with him Derrick Walker will give him a home. |

Yes. I read somewhere there was a chance he would drive for Walker.

I suspect Tora Takagi may have been angling for a ride with Toyota in F1 in 2002. Toyota state that only one driver, Mika Salo, is confirmed for 2002. They have not confirmed the other guy (I forget his name) who is testing for them next year - you know, the guy from CART.

Allan McNish? He's not in CART but he's the other Toyota tester for F1.

For what it is worth, Toyota has stated that McNish's seat at toyota f1 is secure even withthe recent signing of Takagi. I am sure that will all change should takagi prove to be faster than McNish.

McNish is a nice guy and seems to be rather fast in his Audi - of course I wonder who wouldn't be fast in that car.
Wouldn't it be fun to have Nishy and Herbert race on the same team? |

while I agree Allan McNish is one of the most underated drivers in the world getting back to Mr Takagi for a minute..I was impressed with his first year in F1 but his second left little to be desired..but this year he done an excellent job in japanese formula nippon and if he does get a champcar drive then he will do a reasonable job..dont know if he is race winning material or not but he could spring a few surprises during the year.

Isn't the rumor that Takagi will race Reynard/Toyotas for Derrick Walker with PIAA sponsorship??
What/who is PIAA anyway?? |
