Well done Guy, looks like alot more pace has been found over the winter. Your fastest lap in 37's is pretty bloody good too. Well done to Jase as well, hope you get nearer to Fowler next time out.

A big difference I noticed between Neil Fowler and everybody else was his speed at the bottom of the mountain..he seemed a lot smoother and lifted a lot lot less

Can anyone shed any light on the times.
Neil pimmer holds the current lap record with a 1.35.1 July 2001 in VD RF90 on ACB 10's.Is it realalistic that a Lola T200 20 years older on ACB 9's can do the same time in Qualifing.
Has development not come on that much in 20 years?

Hasn't the circuit been reprofiled through Halls Bends?
Having said that Neil Fowler was flying...I'd tell you how but I'd have to kill you
(just kidding of course)

Is that the bit through the trees?
If so the track 's no differant from last year apart from some of the danger element has been taken away.

Thats the bit...not likely to clip anything now so it must have some effect.
Maybe some of the drivers are a bit good?

M1NNT - lap record is way faster than a 1.35 - if I remember right the slowest quali time in the last national FF race there (Junior FF in Aug 1990) was a high 1.34 - pole (warren hughes) was a high 32 - and I think the lap record was Gareth Rees in a Reynard which was a low 32...

Obv this was on the Dunlops not ACB10s

It's an issue with a few drivers in historics...I think in all honesty the thing that stopped Neil in the past was money but I don't know for sure...I'll ask him shall I? Do a little interview type thingy and put it up on clubff1600...in fact I think there is going to be a driver section on that website

Wasn't the whole point of FF1600 always about maintaining a level playing field with minimal technological development in order to keep costs manageable

The lap record around the time the Lola was built was in the 1.39s. However probably on old Firestones in those days and the track has more run-off now, although the layout is unchanged. Good to see you there Paul.

JNWFR01 - This is true but before they changed the track,My info is direct from cadwell park and from someone who was the star of the midlands champ that year.
Check for yourself if you don't believe me!

what have they change to the track appart from moving some barriers/extra run off?? Think you'll find a 33 is good time and a 32 is a great time..

I have a 1989 prog here from the September Luk RAC FF meeting. The lap record before this race was a 1.32.9 set by Tim Sugden in July '89 in the Tredaire Swift. Don't know it this time was beaten in this RAC round. But the track itself has not been changed has it apart from re-surfacing since then? I noticed the Park straight has new (recent) looking tarmac.
New run-off here and there such as at the Hall bends and removal of the barn since 89.

Weren't the kerbs at the bottom of The Mountain raised MUCH higher a few years ago, adding to the lap times?

The kerbs looked pretty flat to me John, everyone was cutting across them in all races. How's your season going so far?
