Love it! We haven't had a rainy Monaco GP since... '97?

I'd like to say I think it will make a difference to the winner, but I think it'll just make a difference to the winning margin!
However a wet race should be fun though. You never know if they are short showers or light showers it might help Michelin (who in the past have had the best 'slick' on a damp track tyre). |

Considering the very low retirement rate earlier this year, rain is welcome at Monaco!
Not that I hope many drivers to DNF in itself, just for some more uncertainty. |

If it rains there's no chance of anyone beating TGF The bridgestones are way too good in the wet. This was one circuit that the others could possibly have had a chance at - then the weather goes and it up.
Hopefully there'll be plenty of action further down the field to keep the interest during the race. |

If it rains then the procession behind MS will just be even more boring. No one will even think of taking any chances (maybe Sato will).
This makes qualifying even more important. |

If it rains the track gets more risky, so, though the chances for overtaking are always very little, the smallest mistake can cost you the race, thus it's less boring than in case of sun.

Let's just hope that TGF has another brain fade at the Loews/Portier section again.
It worked last time! |

Bleh, don't hold your breath. "Last time" happened in 98. He grew up a little. You can only hope for another exhaust failure, and after what happened at Barcelona you can actually bet a dime. But not more, because at Barcelona he also won.
PS: "Last time but in rain" happened in 97 and we all know what happened then. (and don't start a "but he's old now" ) Last edited by Red; 18 May 2004 at 14:31. |

Michellin recon they've improved their wet tyres this year. Could be interesting if the rain starts towards the end of quali as lap times will drop and as there is pretty much no overtaking in Monaco then we might see MS and frontrunning co having to work really hard for points scored at the end of the race.

I've just returned from the Hisorique GP. Before going, the weather forecasts were predicting poor weather for each day of our break except Saturday. In reality we got 5 days of glorius weather with one brief shower on Saturday. On Sunday there wasn't a cloud in the sky...
There's a new pits section with enormous grandstands, oh and they suddenly remebered what everyone was going for so threaded a narrow strip of tarmac through for the cars to run on. They put a sharp turn in as well, in case some of the drivers thought they might get out of second gear. |

I think it's great that there's rain. The leveller. Just what we need. That's my opinion, anyway. |

Ermm... you mean 96? In 97 Schumacher won with such a marging that he could actually park his car on an escape road, calmly maneuvering to rejoin the track and still have like 2 minutes gap to the second car

Myeah, in '97 Jacques got 'mixed up' with IIRC Fisichella, well it was at least a Jordan, at the run to Loews...
That's about all i remember of that race. |

Hehehe, yeah, second dude was Barrichello. Actually that was one of the few races when I was 100% happy with the result, despite not being a Ferrari 1/2 (well, it was a 1/3 thogh). I still remember Jackie's face!
