Groupc should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Photography at British Circuits

I haven't been to any circuits besides Silverstone and Le Mans for longer than I care to admit. I intend to remedy this very soon.

Which circuits are still relatively (amateur) photographer friendly? I'm going to Snetterton for the 1st time in about 10 years for the upcoming GT race as last minute practice (have I mentioned my new 10D ;-) ??) before Le Mans.

Am I in for a nasty shock or is it still relatively unblemished by debris fencing?

What about Cadwell, Oulton and Mallory also ?

Thanks guys.

Snett is great for amateurs, as is Oulton. There are enough places you can get to where the fence doesn't get in the way

Mallory indeed. A bit further afield, but Knockhill is also excellent.

I'd also recommend Castle Combe if you fancy a trip down to Wiltshire. Plenty of places without loads of debris fencing in the way there too.

I've had a some good shots from Cadwell. Unique circuit and some nice scenery, plus you're very close. The woodland section is pretty good, especially now they've thinned the trees down as there is more light. One of the best, no argument,

My favourite is Oulton, and not just because it's closest. Lots of fence-free areas to choose from.

Shooting from the roof of the pits at Rockingham last year was good - a nice change from trackside, though it seemed to be the only option.

Donington also has a few good spots, especially when they use the full circuit.

Gentlemen, many thanks for your advice. I arrived at Snetterton this morning for first time in at least 10 years - Silvertsone? Who ?!?! Snetterton is WONDERFUL. A (amateur) photographer's dream, all the pros were roughly 5 feet ahead of me and NO debris fencing.

It was the first run out for my 10D and 300mm L IS USM f4 lens - of course I was conservative and only shot 584 frames...

I am thrilled, honestly, what a camera !?

I attach (in my gleeful state) a sample image - roll on Le Mans

I would agree Snet is great for photo's, as a keen amateur myself.

Oulton is also good, apart from that I usually only go to Brands, which is a bit harder. I've got a new camera this year for Le Mans, which could be good (only had a 3x optical last year).

Picture from Snet yesterday...

Posting direct to this forum means the resolution is very poor, I've tried to put them in an online gallery - fingers crossed...

Oops, seems ok now.
