Rockingham Results!
I posted earlier in the week - and apart from having rubbish equipment (I was getting serious lens-envy
![]() Anyway - here are my efforts... http://www.mintylamb.co.uk/tssc (quantity over quality!) Hopefully the TSSC will be pleased with my efforts. Feedback wanted please... hopefully I get to have this much fun at Oulton in a month or so... so any advice much appreciated. James |

Not a bad effort at all.
Perhaps start using slower shutter speeds to give a better impression of speed (start at about 1/250 and work down). Although I don't know Rockingham, you might benefit from shooting at more varied locations around the track. Good luck at Oulton! |

Nice pics James. I've never been to rockingham, but a lot of people say you can always get nice results. You'll enjoy Oulton, I think the track has lots of character and a nice variety of places to shoot from.

Thanks for the kind words.
Ive shot at shutter speeds quite a bit slower than I did on Sunday - but I forgot my monopod - and I thought I'd play it safe because I was actually "working" and didnt want to come back with a load of blurry photos. I was going to move around Rockingham - but as the practice and race are only 15 minutes each there isnt a lot of scope for that. Even worse - the race was cut short after an accident on the first corner of the first lap. My original plan was to shoot the first lap - move on 20m up the track, shoot again and move... etc Rockingham is quite samey looking - Im looking forward to Oulton - hopefully has more scope for some diverse shots. You may get better results panning without the monopod, as it usually encourages you into an arc as you pan, meaning that the subject is blurred vertically.
I have to say, i've never panned on a monopod, and it's mainly because of this. |

Hmmmm... you may well be right... I do notice that a bit...
There might be a difference depending where the monopod is mounted though - I think on the lens its much better (though mine is usually on the body) - as it pans in a different axis... possibly... anyone else know? James |

I used to take a monopod with me to the same meetings you are now attending James. I hardly ever use it except when using a particularly long lens and then only for head-on shots. I always found panning to be much better handheld.
