Reliant Robin show interest in F1
Monday 24th May from www.fibreglassracers.com
"Reliant Robin have today announced interest in developing a car to compete at the highest level in F1. Marketing Manager, Mr D Trotter said today that the UK-based company that specialise in fibre-glass bodied road vehicles, is considering investing a large sum of money to enter F1 in 2006/7. Trotter commented, 'The only issue is to find an experienced driver that can cope with demands of driving a three-wheeled vehicle and can give the impression of not being a prat while running with one less functioning wheel than everyone else - but we think we may have found our man." Depends which side of bed Adam fell out of...
I'm sure we can have a smile. By the way, what are you still doing on the 7.17 to Waterloo? Points failure at Kennington?! |

Ha ha lol.
I was once at a autoshow on Newark air field and one of the cars there was a Reliant kitten, a 4 wheel version of the robbin. The thing about this one that made it stick out was that the owners were obviously bodgers and somehow they had mounted a Jet Engine in the back where the seats etc would have been, i didnt see it go but it looked ****... |

I can see some similarities here dontyaknow. Del Boy had a younger brother and both aspired to be millionairs, (albeit next year!), both starred in a 'popular show' and one of them was a looser.

apparently JPM is showing interest in the seat as well... "un-named sources" claim that he has more chances of winning on 3 wheels that winning in the Mac..

Nothing new here. We had a three wheeled Tyrrel at Shelsley a couple of years back. All of them on the left hand side. Mind it had six just a few moments before.

Pitstop. I'm afraid that the security in my browser won't let me view pornographic websites. Would you like to direct me to the real story please?

Peter, It's nice to see your sense of humour is not as restricted as your web pages!
I found this little snippet for you to read. FORMULA ONE Ferrari to have one wheel removed By Sponge Monday, 5 April 2004 London: Charlie Whiting (FIA Technical Delegate) announced a rule change today after the leisurely Sunday afternoon drive enjoyed by both Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello in the Bahrain GP. "Essentially, we have decided that a new performance penalty system is required to assist the other 9 teams competitiveness as they appear incapable of doing it themselves" Whiting said, "We at the FIA hereby decree that any team having won 3 races in a row in 2004 will be penalised one wheel per car from the next Grand Prix onwards - by that we mean to only pernit the cars to run with 3 wheels fitted at any one time." Translated as: "Typical, Mikey smokes the rest of the tools again and now we have only 3 wheels to work with. We must now redouble our testing efforts with the F2004T (T for tricycle)." BMWWilliamsF1 and Renault have sought a 'clarification' from the FIA to ensure Ferrari do not 'merely reposition the remaining wheels in a similar configuration to the Reliant Robin'. |

Reliant Robin have announced a ten year engine supply from Messerchmidt who have developed an engine from their 3 wheel bubble car of the 1960's. Herr Heinkel of Messerchmidt confirmed the deal in an official communique earlier this morning, issued from the shed in his back garden. "Ve haf been vorking on zis design since 1968" said the German engine manufacturer. The engine is thought to be a 3 litre V5 configuration with the cylinders at a 30 degree angle. Power is thought to be in the region of 850bhp and will be transmitted through a normal 3 speed gearbox with optional reverse gear.
The test car is currently at MIRA undergoing exhaustive track and crash tests before being shipped to Paul Ricard for shake down tests next month. Drivers approached so far are thought to be enthusiastic to drive for the fledgling Formula 1 team and will not be expected to bring sponsor money with them. If the team is successful then it is proposed they make chassis and engines available to other teams from 2007 onwards. |

Stephen - will they maintain the groovy 'bench seat' arrangement which means you can sit three abreast or will it have a monocoque?

According to official sources there are to be two different configurations.
The first is the 'race car' which will be carbon fibre monocoque and only the single seat to comply with current FIA regulations. The second is a two seater which will maintain the bench seat of the original car and will be used for passenger rides and is thought to be a huge rival for the current crop of Minardi and Arrows two seater race cars. |

The second car will have extra safety features such as lap and diagonal seat belts, semaphore arm indicators formed of a collapsable structure to comply with FIA regulations. Tyres are supplied by Dunlop who have found the original moulds from the late 60's but, new tyres will be of the 'soft compound' variety. The inside of the car will feature a full roll cage with rubber tubing to prevent any injury to the drivers head in the unlikely event of an accident. Front and rear crumple zones will likewise be made from deformable materials, probably 'Isopon'.
