Who would you like to see back? (BTCC)
So Kelvin Burt is back and we have a thread called "Most doofy team-mate (BTCC)" ( http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=55210 )
so who do you want to see back. I for one would like to get Howell in the Kartworld MG as I think it could run faster in his hands. Anyone else got any suggestions? I've not put a poll but if a few names appear maybe a mod will find it useful to add one. Last edited by Phoenix1; 3 Jun 2004 at 18:51. |

I'd like to see Menu back, that would be a great addition to the championship, Paul Radisich is another that I would love to see come back, and what happened to Patrick Watts? Did he retire?

I'd love to see Patrick Watts and Eugine O' Brien back!
And have Cleland and Soper out of retirement! |

Yeah, go with those (perhaps plus Kristensen) from the last of the Super Touring years. A Cleland appearance could be a giggle, since Vauxhall basically went upwards after he left - and his GT career was not so good.
So my full list... Alain Menu Paul Radisich Tom Kristensen Laurent Aiello Rickard Rydell John Cleland David Leslie Gareth Howell Gavin Pyper Alan Morrison Paul O'Neill Andy Priaulx (though he's obvious otherwise occupied) Vic Lee Racing! Warren Hughes |

Menu and Rydell are driving for the Prodrive 550 team at Le mans. So if Prodrive ever came back to the BTCC these could be the drivers. At the moment it looks like these two will drive for the new Prodrive Aston Martin GTS team.
I would love to see Radisich back as well. |

Vic Lee is advertising his BTCC Pug 307's for sale in Autosport this week, so it doesn't look like he will be back with those..!

On the subject of Prodrive, I think they should run some Honda's. Maybe put a 2 car attack together, run the new ETCC Accords and put Rydell and Menu in them. I know that Prodrive wouldn't have that much of a problem getting the money - Dave Richards runs B.A.R Honda, i'm sure that 1 of Dave's "new sponsors" would be interested in helping back some Touring Cars

A lot of good drivers have failed to make their way onto the grid this year, but to be honest I don't regard Warren Hughes, O'Neill, Bennett or Leslie as huge losses. Howell, Morrison and Pyper are more important - home-grown talents with impressive records. Tom Boardman was fun to watch but needed to sort out his consistancy.
As I watch ETCC and DTM when I can, the guys who are doing well in those can happily stay there. I'd like to have Menu back, but a lot of the other ideas are past it. We've got a great grid this year (although not everyone belongs), so don't complain about it. |

I'd certainly want Warren Hughes back, his record in every formula he has contested has been excellent. He certainly performed more than respectably in the MG and deserves his place on the grid. He's always struck me as a lot talent, i've always wanted Warren to do well, as he seems to be another one of those drivers who always struggle for budget. With the right breaks he could (should?) have made it to formula 1, he has IIRC, he has just signed as Lotus tester when they folded. I found Menu less than convincing during his DTm years, although his Porsche cup drives at Oulton did show his undoubted talent.

well havin just heard the BMW pull out - I would love to see the BMW back, or atlest some works backed cars...RWD really does put some more excitment out there and I know in the wet you get alot of oversteer - a shame we won't be seeing any of that for the remander of the year

Can I ask what the health reason's were? Had something to do with the crash with him and Bennett (surprise, surprise...) at the final at Brands? Am I correct?

Although Steve was okay after that shunt, (other than a little memory loss!) he decided that it was time to call it a day. You could haldly blame him for the dog of a season that he had with the soon to return skip on wheels!

I would love to see John Cleland back - love him or loathe him he was a great showman - good with the fans and you could always guarantee a totally un PC comment coming from him sometime (normally several times!) during the season. |
