apguy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Quickie question:

Is the MGF Cup still part of Powertour for 2001. I can't find any reference to it on the powertour website.

I'm almost certain that its not. I think I heard that it was going to be disbanded completely next year. Does anyone else have concrete info on this?

Taken from a powerTour Press release:
"PowerTour events will feature the Green Flag British F3 and Privilege Insurance British GT Championships, supported by the TVR Tuscan Challenge, the Formula Ford Zetec Championship, the Porsche Cup and the Ford Fiesta Zetec Championship. With each event featuring a double-header for the F3s and a further guest race on the Sunday programme, the PowerTour show will now include eight races within a seven-hour show."
It doesn't mention MGF but does mention a furhter guest race - I doubt if it'll be MGF. Anyone any speculation on what it could be?

I've heard that it is to be dispanded, but the MG Club will allow the cars to join one of it's series, Phoenix challenge I think.

Well I'm answering my own question here.

According to the BRDC the MGF Cup was only ever a 3 year championship, this ended in 2000. The MG Car Club are running a new mixed championship for ex-Cup MGF's and their own Abingdon Trophy MGF's in 2001. Supposedly 12 races, with 6 under BRDC and 6 under MGCC, Clubman races.

I guess that explains why there are a proliferation of ex-Cup MGF's being sold at the £8.5K figure (they were £28+VAT when new 3 years ago!)
