JV Visits Sauber
Well, as much as I don't want to, I'm going to start another JV thread. I didn't see a thread about this. Perhaps it could be merged into the JV @ BAR thread.
Either way, apparently JV made a three-hour visit to Hinwil. I find this to be an odd move and perhaps a sign of desperation from the former WDC. This is not the seat to be fighting it out for wins with Schumi. Here's the link: http://f1.racing-live.com/en/index.html |

Goes cap in hand to Sauber to scrounge a drive in Ferrari hand-me-downs - scraps of car thrown from the Schumacher table. Oh how the mighty fall.
That should press a few buttons. I love a good stir, me. |

At least this is actually based on some hard facts.

Hmmm, the same type of rumours when Jacques was linked to Williams and BAR were dismissed as pure drivel, but these are considered "hard facts"?
Right....... |

Not at all.
As it happens, I'd like to see Jacques in a BAR. What I'm saying is that in this case he has definitely been into see Sauber, something which hasn't happened in the other cases. |

Ok, so he's "definitely" visited the Sauber facilities, just because "Gazetta dello Sport" said so?
Again, right...... |

Not just because Gazetta reports it, no.
It happened. |

What makes you so sure of that, hmmmm?
Oh, i think i get it now, the concept of Jacques joining Williams or BAR is absolutely unbelievable, but it's instantly believable for him to join some low life loser team like Sauber? Last edited by ASCII Man; 19 Aug 2004 at 16:01. |

(Pitpass) "...we also hear that the Canadian made to visit to the Sauber factory in Hinwil, Switzerland, on Tuesday.
Unlike all the 'secret test' stories, this is absolutely true and has been confirmed to pitpass by a team spokeswoman. "Jacques visited our factory on Tuesday morning," she said. "He and his manager had talks with Peter Sauber," So a Sauber team spokesperson confirms it. |

Ferrari hand me downs, that's a good one.
Why not visit Hinwil, the car is not a piece of ****. It has current equipment. It's not like he's gone to Jordan or Minardi for pete's sake. I prefer the tone of the latest articles re: BAR, such as this one; http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=30927 I shall remain optimistic we will see Jacques back with Honda soon. |

But Sauber... we'll never hear or see anything of Jacques for a whole season! (most of you would actually like it alot!)
I almost forgot that Sauber is competing in F1 this season! |

15-20 seconds of coverage in a 2-3 hours race is not much to remember about...

At the risk of stating the obvious .......
To me, such a visit, indicates that Jacques is keeping options open and maybe has toned down his desire for a "top ride only" for next year. Perhaps he has come to the realization that any F1 ride for 2005 is preferable to skiing; thinking that at least that would keep alive his chances of a future seat for a competing team. |

Sauber has stated in the past that he would liked to have signed JV. Who knows maybe Sauber gave him a call.
Sauber may not be the most exciting team but they do carry themselves very professionally. With BAR being a longshot Sauber are a better option than not being in F1 at all. |

Well, it's still better than 0sec coverage he receives now. |

For starters i dont think JV can take a year off ansd then expect drives like Williams to come knocking on the door... I can see him in a Sauber in 05 and he has to prove that he is hungry enough before he can think of a top drive again...

I do agree that Sauber might be his most available option, and a good way to showcase his talents as several drivers have. If Fisi can do it why cant Jacques? |

You could say the same about Prost in 1991, and his comeback for 1993 went well.
