Depends on what you're looking for, If you're into small exclusive groups with 'true' open pit then I'm affiliated with some of the smaller trackday companies and you can get details on my site. If not, then bookatrack and easytrack have good reps, but you'll end up waiting around alot as there numbers are high

Hi all..

I went to Cadwell with Javelin on an open pitlane the other evening.

They had an ARDS instructor there who was very helpful, prepared to sit in with you etc.. FOR FREE !

and it was very well organised generally...

Not too crowded, and although it was "open pitlans/queuing" the queuing situation was fine.

Whats more...

When I broke a UJ, they helped me load the car back on the trailer in the paddock.

I'd recommend them.

I've used a number of the companies. I rate Bookatrack, RMA and Goldtrack pretty highly in terms of driving standards. RMA run open pitlane, but then they do work out a bit more expensive than most. I think membership is about £250, and the trackdays are then about the same price as the other companies. They're not afraid to throw people out for breaking the rules.

Bookatrack have about the most comprehensive briefings I've attended, and an "overtake by permission only" rule. On the busier days you'll get 20 minute sessions once per hour.

Goldtrack also run sessions, but they're 30 minutes every hour, and so they are a bit more expensive. Again, they are keen to hear and act if someone's driving like a pratt.

Having said all that about sessions, bear in mind that unless you've got a Caterfield type car, or a race prepped tintop, 20 minutes per hour is probably about as much as your car might take.

Most trackdays come in around the £150-£200 mark, with Silverstone GP and Brands GP £250-£350 depending on company/time of year.

20 mins / hour is still pretty lousy as every hour you spend more time sitting around than doing what you went there to do, that's not open pit in my book.

Insurance is up to you and optional. Bear in mind that you will pay for an agreed amount insurance wise and there will be a big excess typically 1K. So its up to you whether or not you think its worth it.

a caterfield for example is fairly unlikely to cost more than 1K to repair in a light shunt but an elise on the other hand typically has much higer repair cost due to its construction.

in summary, wouldn't worry if its a caterfield but i would if its an elise.
