Nordic should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Veloqx Motorsport

What next for Veloqx Motorsport. Has the team closed down? I have heard that 20 people heve been made redundant and the 2 Audis gone back to Audi UK, (one may be heading to Audi France).

Depending on your viewpoint, this could be good news for the LMES as it opens it up a bit, not so sure myself.

Racing for Holland Audi?

Yes, the team has folded and the mechanics are all looking for new jobs elsewhere.

In short, on 01 Nov, mechanics were laid off. The two Audis will still race next season. Speculation being that the cars would not be run by Audi UK, but prepared with a new race preparation company based in Europe.

Why has the team folded? They had a great run this year, doesn't seem to make sense to just pull the plug.

The wording in Autosport suggests Audi Sport UK wanted to downsize their operation at a time when Sam Li wanted to have greater support from a manaufacturer. When Audi pulled the plug, I suspect Sam decided he couldn't afford to finance the whole team operation out of his pocket yet again.

Basically, it's because of the lack of/rather limited financial support from Audi UK for 2005. Don't forget, Sam owns one of the two cars.

Isn't Sam Li still looking to get involved with a manufactuer at some point?

It seems to suggest that Sam is unlikely to forge new link with a new manufacturer - maybe because he is "stuck" with one R8. It makes sense for him to go the privateer route.

So no more R8s in LMES? Team Goh will also no content next year.

BTW What's Audi's plan for next year? A new car, the old R8 or a hybrid R8? Or maybe just shipping Le Mans for 1 year?!

Will Champion still run cars in LMES, and what is happening to Johnny Herbert, Alan McNish etc.

Herbert signed for Maserati perhaps he knew more than we did, and will continue with them for next year

The autosport article says Sam Li may still run his Audi at Le Mans.
However if he sold it, would Audi support anyone else who wanted to run it.

im not so sure about that... from what i heard, Herbert only signed for the last FIA-GT races, and he will race full time with Kaffer in the ALMS for Champion Audi in their second car.

Mal, where did you hear that Herbert signed for Maserati? Link please. He is trying to cut a deal with Champion for the ALMS next year (second car). Or at least that is what he told us. Link:

http://www.rfmsports.com/IMSA/ALMS/S...s.johnnyH.html

"Q: Will you be racing the MC12 next year as well?
JH: Not if I come back to the ALMS. There are too many conflicts."

Maybe no Audis in the LMES next year. I heard that rumour at Laguna.

Perhaps Champion will take two cars to Le Mans? That would give them a good shot at winning the race they have struggled to win so far.

It's all very interesting this. From what I have read in Autosport today and DSC the other something has gone very wrong here and its real shame.

From what read over on DSC the other day Audi will confirm there plans for 2005 at the Essen Motor Show as the end of the month.

A great shame and a bloody waste. Having had the chance to go around Veloqx before PQ this year, they obviously had a great set-up there. Very disappointing. hrug:

This could be fantastic, an Audi with no works assistance, would surely be beatable (just about) by Zytek/Dome/Courage.

Particularly if the Dome or Courage are hybrids with the extra power that implies.

no way Audi Skips LeMans... if Veloqx and Goh aren't available, Champion will surely run a two car team. although the Hybrids will be potentially faster, i highly doubt they will be reliable, esp. in a 24 Hour race.

I hardly see Audi skipping LeMans.
They still have a car that can compete. Champion will be there, the other cars will most likly show up as well. There maybe just a little more competion.

If they were to skip Le Mans, I think much of the marketing good that the car has done would be undone. It's one thing to "retire" the car, but the time to do that was at Laguna Seca, not in the off-season when it makes them look small.
