HOMESTEAD RESULT DISCUSSION - contains spoliers
A scrappy race, I thought - you could tell it was the first day back at school!
Well done to Wheldon - a well taken win. Signs of encouragement for Toyota (with Penske) and Chevy too. And glad everyone's okay after that pile-up. |

The fight for second place towards the end there was excellent.
EDIT - Also, I must say I really don't see the point of this thread. The other thread worked quite nicely, I thought Might have been a good idea to add spoiler to the title of that one though... Last edited by rustyfan; 6 Mar 2005 at 21:30. |

I started the new one so it was clear it was a spoiler and also so people can discuss the result without having to go through all the as it happened stuff..

Did anyone else hear an interview with Tony George in the race, did I hear correct, did he call it boring?
Seems a strange move to call his own racing boring???? |

Great race all the way for Wheldon. He could be the man this year for AGR. That 7 car pileup was tough to watch. It took out alot of cars that had a real shot for the win. At least they all walked away. Thank goodness for the Safer-Barriers! |

Very bitty race......great win from Wheldon. He made it look easy.
Typical Kanaan, not so great day for him and still finishes third. He's still the one to beat. |

Great racing among the top contenders. I loved going back and forth from ESPN and ESPN 2. I hope Gil does the commentary with Goodyear for the rest of the year.

an interesting race but Wheldon certainly seems to be the man to beat.
a shame everyone caught caught up in the wreck but thats oval racing isnt it. Im hoping the target team can improve as well as the red bull team. Last edited by marcus; 7 Mar 2005 at 01:54. |

The racing did look fairly clean up until the Matsuura incident. It's unfortunate but inevitable when there are so many cars in close proximity, jostling for an advantage.
This time he was the victim, although Tomas was slightly hypocritical in his assessment of Matsuura IMO. Re-starts are perhaps something the IRL should look into being stricter about. It's often the case that a guy who is running, say, 12th ends up crossing the line to take the re-start 8th with much more speed built up. This isn't fair IMO. I'm pleased for Wheldon. Usual suspects at the front - consistency is going to be the key again I feel. Hard luck for Danica though... It would've been nice to see her finish the race as she was looking to be progressing quite nicely up until her crash. Hopefully it won't have knocked her confidence. |

Briscoe just lost it all by himself in the dirty air of a few cars. It was quite a big shunt actually, backwards into the wall. He's OK of course.

I got lost some point in the race. A shame on the big wreck, especially for Sheckter and Danica, who were having great races. I am pleased for Hornish, once again, with a big finish at Homestead.

I liked the race personally.
I especially liked the "side-by-side" action where i can always check out the race on the commercials. Tomas seems to be in a fit of bad luck carrying over from last year into this one. It's sad but he's blaming Kosuke which should not have happened. Sure, Kosuke had a faster car and could overtake both Carpenter and Sheckter but, IMO, Scheckter could have backed off and let Kosuke come down.... Whatever, it's done, it's over... Great race, can't wait for Phoenix |

New IRL Fan
Hey everyone I hope you guys will welcome me to your IRL Chat. This was the first full IRL race i have seen since CART and IRL split. I use to be a huge indycar fan before 1996 and at one point watched it just as much as F1. When they split it made me so angry i stopped watching it period but after 8 years of boy cotting Champ Car and IRL i watched i couple Champ Car races and it got me interested again in American open wheel racing. So last sunday i sat my butt down and watched the IRL race and was actully really interntained by it. I never knew Jody Sheckters son was racing and i instantly became a fan of his this sunday he drives with alot of balls and he was really fast i was so angry when got knocked out along with Danica who i have to say did a great job for a rookie and damn she pretty hot lol. So if you guys want to fill me in on what ive been missing go ahead. Peace guys.

Yes, welcome Xpunk75!
Stick around and enjoy the forum and the IRL. There's a great bunch of people here that will get you up to speed on everything that's happening in the IRL. If your mad at Scheckters luck in his first race this year, you should have seen how bad he had it last season. Hopefully it'll get better for him, because I think Chevy may have a real contender this year. |

Yeah it sure seemed like it. It's to bad there leaving the sport next year but thats GM for you. They really are not big players in the open wheel racing sports, but anyway ill be rooting for him all year long. I excitied to see how they do on the road courses, does anyone know how many there are on the calander? And the next race is a road course if im correct right?

The next race is an oval in Phoenix, and then they go to St. Petersburg Fl. for a street race, and then they wont do another road race until late Aug. at Infineon Raceway and then one more in late Sept., at Watkins Glen, which I hope to go to. Check out www.indycar.com for everything you want to know about the IRL. |
