Interesting Article - Oregon, sponsorship, tech companies, etc.

Nothing earth shattering in this article, but it has an interesting discussion of some sponsorship ideas, etc. for Portland, but obviously applicable elsewhere. It also mentions that this year more money will be spent on promotion.

Wierd stuff. I thought GI Joes was the title sponsor again, but the article says they're just the presenting sponsor. I find the symantics of the two odd. The contrast of "Gi Joe's 250" vs. "The Portland GP presented by Gi Joe's" one wouldn't think makes much difference, but apparently it does.

When they buy the title and have it clean, it's a bigger price. "Presenting" is a lower price.

I realize there's a price difference, but from an advertising perspective I don't see why there would be a difference. (obviously there is)

If their name still appears in the title of the race, then where's the insentive to pay bigger bucks to be the title sponsor?
