Remembering #99
There's a nice article on TSN's website about Greg Moore.

All the driver tributes were nice. It really is frustrating to see someone so promising not achieve what they could have. The mention of Moore's dominance at MI is something that is easily forgettable. If his luck had been slightly different, Moore could have easily had 3 500 mile victories. There were a number of other races were he came really close. eg. I recall him leading at Mid-Ohio (passing impossible) when he drove over another car's tire exiting the pits.
Astute fans will notice that the article incorrectly associates #99 with Gretzky instead of the number he was assigned in karting. I like PT's quote saying that Moore was more mature than PT was at the same age. I think Moore was probably more mature in his first CC race than PT is today. I remember seeing him in his first CC race and thinking there was a guy who could win the championship in short order, like JV before him. |

Even in the few years he raced at the top, Greg could have won so many more races.
He was a contender for almost all the 500 milers he ran, and he really won't be forgotten soon. He had a tremendous amount of talent, and he was daring. |

R.I.P Greg, I'm sure if he lived and was at Penke in 2000 he would have been champ.
