Black "clip" style attatchment on TGF helmet
while on the grid waiting for the off, the camer zoomed in on Michael in the car. His helmet had a strange "clip" attatchment in the dead center of his helmet at the stop of the vodafone logo on the chin. I couldn't quite see where the clip went or where it joined as his visor was up.
What was this ? I can't see it being a visor lock as you could see the real visor lock on the side of the visor. Look out for it in the race. |

Wouldn't have anything to do with the water bottle connection or anything?

nope,
water bottle feed is the silver/white pipe going in the front at the bottom of the helmet, this is a black block (like the bit of foam coulthard uses to seat the visor) but it appears to be a clip style attatchment, I couldn't quite tell earlier but I think there is a part on the visor top (just above eye level) but it was hard to make out with the visor up |

maybe it's just a handle to close his visor? pull on the black thingy, and the visor comes down

I didnt see it but could it have been an adjuster for airflow inside the helmet ?

just seemed a funny device for a visor lock. It was pretty big, and there is a good visor lock on the side of the helmet too.

A restraint for the anti-clockwise nature of the circuit of some kind? Would have thought it would be on the right hand side of his helmet but maybe not.
