Jenson stays!

Autosport Atlas are reporting that BAR are keeping Jenson Button - does anybody subscribe - can you enlighten us further?

Pitpass:
It's understood that WilliamsF1 , BAR and Jenson Button have
agreed terms which will see the English driver remain at Brackley in 2006.

Button , who had a contract to drive for WilliamsF1 in 2006, sought to get out of it, just twelve months after a similar wrangle which saw him seeking to leave BAR.

None of the parties involved is willing to comment at this time, though an official confirmation is expected at any time.

Was it not being written in the media that SFW would not budge even for £26m to release Button to BAR? or was it another of those rumours

You're full of good jokes today Louis! A chance, yes - but I think I'm more likely to win the lottery. and I don't buy a lottery ticket!

Please let us know when and if it gets officially confirmed (Hmmm Louis, you were not that bad with your prediction that the dominos would fall on Sept 15th).

Obvisouly Frank needed that cash to stay a float. I would think he regrets not selling to BMW.

I do not think they do. All their management choices have been very shortsighted....With their drivers, with their partners and with their engineers. Their current situation is really not a surprise after all....

I don't think the cash is a must-have to keep Williams alive, but knowing how Frank and Patrick think of drivers, they must have decided that the 10million will do more for the team's performance than a whinging Jenson would.

I wonder how much of that 10mil will be left over once Williams haved paid Cosworth for the engine?

Anyway, it looks like all my predictions in another thread are coming true. All it needs is Nico Rosberg to have the second Williams seat, although maybe they will go with Davidson, or Pizzonia?

Looks like BAR have got a good line up for next year - a win must come in 2006, surely?

Who's left - do we need a separate thread for conjecture on who it is to be ? Pizza Or mini Rosberg or Ant

In fact the team must be fairly confident to have released both Button & Heidfeld

I think it's cost more than 10 mill to let Button off the hook.

I would say that William's second driver will be sponsorship led. My guess is Pizzonia with lots of Petrobras cash.

Ant is a Midland, Rosberg needs a year of testing to hone his skills. Pizza or maybe Jacques ... that's presuming he don't have a BMW drive ... oh the glory years of Williams, eh?

Nico and Webber would be my bet for their 2006 line up.

F1 Racing.net give the figure at £25M. Who knows?

Jenson better make damned sure he beats Rubens. I don't doubt him personally, but he doesn't want the pressure to get on top of him.

I think I saw it on F1-Live a couple of weeks back - that HP are supposedly cutting sponsorship ties with the team at the end of this season too (a year early) - could have something to do with the £10M acceptance.
