Mallory Park chicane
Iwas spectating at the Top Hat meeting yesterday and noticed marks on the grass about two thirds of the way around Gerards. It looked as though a chicane was being laid out. Does anybody know anything about this and whether it will be for bikes as the other additions have been?
I wouldn't want to see such a great corner ruined. |

Yes, another chicane is being added for bikes only as I understand it.

A third chicane to move out of the way for Plum Pudding meeting. Now I know its easy for me to say from this side of the barrier but I thought corners like Gerards were supposed to present a challenge and not be tamed!!!
Though given the memorial tree I happened across on the inside at the exit of Gerards I suppose I can see both sides of the argument |

The bike track will now be 3 chicanes and the hairpin. I'm sure there must be better solutions than this. There will be no flow to the track at all and no challenge what so ever. I also suspect that the number of offs will increase as people monster the chicanes. Kyonari's accident at the superbike round happened coming into Edwinas under heavy braking.

The barriers at Shaws are also being pushed back by about 20 feet at the behest of the bike racers...you might have noticed the reprofiling of the banking around there has started already

20 feet?! Where exactly are they going to find 20 feet of space up there?
