Are the Commodore Engines suspect?

Two Auroras bite the dust in practice, one for PWR and one for Perkins. Are they suspect? When Larry's engines start detonating there must be a question mark on their reliability......thoughts anyone?

I got a thought.

Stay the heck away from larry this weekend !!!!!!!!

its a shame and you have to think there could be something wrong.

but hopefully it was just bad luck and the replacement engines are fine but im sure they are a little worried.

I don't like to say it but Larry's engines are certainly suspect at present. One let go at Sandown and 2 so far this weekend. Not in plan I am sure.

I will be interested to see how the 50 and 24 cars go for the remainder of the weekend with their race engines almost certainly being installed tonight.

Yes, and so did a 'Sideburns' Morris Motorsport ' Aurora engine at Sandown too.

Are the parts coming from the same place, if so the joke on RPM last week about a "20c Part" might be funnier than previously thought......

I remember reading somewhere a few years ago that there are some issues with the Aurora engine when it is stressed, cant recall exactly what it was but i am sure someone else will remember.

Between You & Me, I'd say right about now Larry is the bloke with issues, and is under stress, bugger the engine.

I'd say the Perkins engines might be suspect. HRT don't seem to have the same issues... touch wood.

Larry might need to run his engines richer this weekend if they suffered from detonation... that probably means a slight loss of power.

When is a RACE engine not under stress.

Engine failures have occured like this before, you only have to change a supplier of a part, or maybe some one in the machine shop is not doing his job right!

Allways an issue for the engine builder come supplier if its only happening to the other team you supply but Larry had 1 of his let go aswell

Depends on what you call stressed doesnt it, I would say leaning out an engine to get more HP could over stress an engine, Reaching its maximum HP for its given config could also over stress an engine. Things always break when you push to the next level in HP, give time and they wont break, its called development.

Considering Larry's cars are the only ones to have (publicly announced anyway) reached 300kph.... i am assuming that his engines are stressed.

If it's a wet race I don't think the Perkins engines will have detonation dramas.

It's an easy fix for Larry and his merry men, fit SBR Ford engines "and have a good weekend"!

Considering 300km/h is Perkins' domain, why compromise?

It should be a great race, weather permitting. I admire the best drivers... Ambrose, Lowndes, Skaife, Murphy and Richards. They have a habit of entertaining the crowd on the big occasions, don't they.

May the best driver and team win but Go the Holdens!

The Commodore engines didn't look too suspect during the race!

plonkey has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Failures lead to learning.

Larry is a good engineer and will find a solution to the problem....if there is one.
