This is actually a feeble excuse of mine to try to figure out how to post a picture as an attachment. But see how you get on with this machine. The answer may surprise you...

Yes! I did it! I am invincible! Today 10-tenths, tomorrow the world....!
Anyway, let's see what you folks think this machine is. If no one gets it in a couple of days, I'll post a front view. Clues... It was photographed at a VSCC meeting at Silverstone in the 1990s It is not a pedigree Formula racing car The colour may or may not be significant... |

Well, if the gauges were white I'd say it was an MG K3

Interesting suggestion, Angst. Not a Diatto though.
Peter's closer to the money, but it's not an MG Magnette. |

I resemble that remark, I'm old but that car raced before I was involved. It has a small single exhaust pipe so it would be a small engine, less the 1200 cc I would guess. Have no idea but I'm guessing something like a Morgan or Austin based special.

Hmmm,
Six cylinder, union jack on the side. Wolseley made a six, as did MG (probably the same engine). Without wishing to speculate too much, it could be of the "Ulster" style, in which case either Austin or Aston Marting comes to mind. |

Completly lost.
Looks like an oval Wolsley badge on the front grille, but that could be a red herring MG TF 1st choice Some kind of AC ?? Last gasp Aston Martin 1 1/2 litre 1930 / 35 Simon |

Second guess. This time using detective methods.
1 Tim likes Bentley / Astons 2 Photo taken 1990's would suggest early 90's pre internet 3 Looks like Silverstone in the background 4 Unusual car So, 1 Tim would probably not waste expensive colour film on an MG. 2 It is unlikley that a Bentley engine is inside the petitte bonnet. 3 AMOC use Silverstone. 4 Unusual car Result 1 Aston Martin 2 1.5 l as that would fit with small bonnet 3 Probably one of the Le Mans or Ulster models as Peter suggested. Seen at an AMOC meet Silverstone C1993. 4 Unusual car, worth a colour photo just in case. So Tim now tell me that it's the first car that TVR made or something like that. Simon |

Oh dear!
You're all getting terribly terribly close. So close, in fact, that two of the responses have already correctly namechecked the car, and then dismissed it in favour of some other solution. So here's the gen. It's a 1935 Wolseley Hornet Special Sports, powered by a supercharged 1750cc engine, and photographed at the VSCC Silverstone meeting in April 1999. The owner/racer of this machine is one Tim Rides. So, SL and Peter, the credit goes to you both for at least suggesting Wolseley in your arguments. And djb, you were on precisely the right track when trying to home in on the badge. I must confess to deliberately scanning at a slightly lower than optimum resolution to prevent peeking. Although a Wolseley always carries her badge "just so" on the grille, which might have been a clue. SL, your detective work is most impressive, but you might like to take a quick peek over the tail of the Wolseley in the front-facing shot. There is the Bentley in the equation. Actually, both the green and the mid-blue cars are Bentleys, but there's no real way of telling the identity of the blue one from that picture. Hmmm... I think I'll try a different tack for the next one of these... |

Tim, I don't know if you characters have done this before, but it's a great idea, fun to follow the guesses even if like me, one doesn't have a smidgen of an idea.
Bring on some more, I'm looking forward to it. (just please do not always have them pre-war...) |
