An ever-increasing international presence and sustained domestic growth has prompted the Australian Vee Eight Supercar Company (AVESCO) to change its name to the more identifiable V8 Supercars Australia.

“The international Motorsport community particularly in China and Europe are becoming very familiar with our product and know the name V8 Supercars. They are not generally familiar with AVESCO until the acronym is further explained"

V8 Supercars Australia Chairman Tony Cochrane said.
I'm sure parts of the Chinese, Legal & Business fraternities are more than conversant with the name "AVE$CO"

Uncle Cranker Enterprises TM, are firm believers in the age old adage, "If it 'aint Broke, dont fudge with it"

Clearly AVE$CO, sorry, V8 Supercars Australia: were believers too, it must have been so badly broken, they had to change the name..........

Maybe they just want their name to be closer to the alternate sanctioning body in Australia.

What a waste of time and money. Good to see the sanctioning fee's are going to good use - to rebrand the administrative body.

VESA. Awful close to "VISA" as in credit cards or the things you need to get into and out of the country. Hmmm. A bit of an international flavour to those don't you think?

I bet Mr Cromptons shoulders sank finding this out. He has to go through the rules so many times for fans that don't listen the first time and inevitably discusses AVESCO. Now hes going to have to say "the administrative body V8 Supercars Australia" instead of "AVESCO".
